"My name is Eva Halloway and this is my life in the shadows. You see, I've taken a job that I'm giving up my life for. I know, I'm being dramatic, but seriously. I'm moving across the country to be some spoiled rich kids nanny. In return they will give me my own quarters, no rent. There's more rules and agreements to be discussed when I move in, but I could use a new start anyways. My parents died when I was 16 in a house fire, my boy friend just cheated on me with my best friend, and I'm about to fail my writing class. Lets add that I've been living off ramen for the past three and a half years and this job also offers free room service. Anyways, back to the story. I took this job under the impression that I would be watching this sweet 7 year old, but this kid is a little monster. I swear he wants to eat me. He's never happy and seem to get mad when I mention any child like games or activities to do, as if I suggested he go die in a hole. Every once in a while he will have small moments when they seem like a normal child, and others where he seems like he's from centuries ago. I'm afraid this kid is gonna cost me this gig. Then there's the twins. both good looking, barely legal, twins. They are like mirror opposites of one another, fire and ice, day and night. Much like their youngest sibling, they also seem like they belong in another time, then again, they're both theater kids. Their charm is as sincere as clicking the "I've read all the terms and conditions" button. I avoid eye contact at all costs, there is something mysteriously odd about them that does give me the chills. There is also the oldest sibbling, he's about 27, he tends to play the role of parent when theirs are away. Which is often, because apparently they are important members of some hush hush council. Sounds like some Illuminati stuff, I know. Anyways, he's okay, a little quiet. He's very proper and sophisticated, but something about him still seems cold. Gentle yet deadly, privileged yet humble, and elegant but dangerous. Lastly there's Adrian, he's the same age as me. He's distant, isolated, and standoffish. he's still handsome in that dark and misunderstood type of way. like the end result of the emo kid phase. his room is down the hall and I swear all through the night he plays. Guitar that is. it's as if he never sleeps. I'll be starting at the same college as him next week and I have yet to utter more than one word to him. Now that we know what everyone is like in the house, let's begin the story. We will go back to the day I moved in... (Top to bottom) *Theodor Bentham *Cecilia Bentham *Thomas Bentham *Adrian Bentham *Oscar Bentham *Issac Bentham *Robert Bentham *Eva Hallway *Molly Evans *Maria Evans *Jeeves Porter

It was dusk and the limo that picked Eva up from the airport was winding up the mountains in Brightston, North Carolina. It seemed to be a small town, if you blinked, you were out of it already. It had the basic bar, library, coffee shop, and a few other little local shops on the main street. The side streets are full average suburban homes. But if you take the private drive on the north side of town, you'll find a house that's bigger and older than any of the other town homes. The Bentham mansion. As they pulled up to the place, Eva could see a group of people waiting properly to greet her.

In the front of the group stood a small boy who was playing with something between his hands, looking bored out of his mind. His mother, the tall woman that stood towards the side, scolded him, telling him he must be nice meeting his new nanny. He put what he had away in a pocket, but scowled towards the limo that was pulling in. The mother had a somehow stern smile as Eva got out of the vehicle. She was quite tall, as they all were, and wire thin, yet her presence seemed to take up the most space.
Next to her stood Mr. Bentham, then surrounding them were their five children, all boys, and all tall for their age.
There were two twins who seemed to look completely opposite, one with white hair, presumably dyed, light colored clothing and a crazy yet attractive grin he threw towards the girl, while the other was wearing all black and had a face of apathy, seeming like he would rather be sitting in the basement with the rats than outside greeting a new human.
The next down the line was an older boy with blue hair, who's smile seemed natural, if not a bit shy. He stood out because of how much he didn't, if one were honest, still extremely attractive with gorgeous bright eyes, yet his behavior and clothing didn't give away any obvious personality traits.
"Welcome to our home, Miss Halloway." Cecilia, the mother, said with a voice of silk traced with venom, looking down at the girl who had now made it up to their porch.

Theodor and Thomas stood side by side. Thomas with an emotionless gaze on his face and Theodor with a smile as fake as his lowlights. Eva smiled softly and bowed her head. "Thank you kindly for having me." She said respectfully. Something about this family felt scary, but there was no turning back at this point. She could feel her adrenalin spiking ever so slightly the more she looked over each of them. She shrugged it off as nerves and anxiety of moving in with strangers. It didn't help she binged scary movies on the plan ride there.

Their mother introduced each of them, stopping at Bobby, as she explained, "this is Bobby, we are hiring you to watch him." Then she waiting for the boy to introduce himself, staring at him. He was destracted watching something across the yard before one of his brothers, Oscar, shoved him forward with a grin on his face.
Bobby grunted and glared at Eva, before giving a evil looking grin, "hello."

Eva could see that she had her hands full with this one already. "Hi bobby, its a pleasure to meet you. I hope we can be friends." She said in her sweetest babysitter voice. First impressions were everything after all.

Oscar was snickering at her tone when his mother shot him a look, he seemed to be the only one aside from Bobby who had an open personality, if not a bit in-your-face. His twin poked him in the ribs before crossing his arms.
"Please, come in and allow the maids to show you to your room," Cecilia finished, looking to her husband in case he had anything to add

"Breakfast is served at 8am sharp. I expect you there promptly and ready to see that Bobby keeps to his schedule. His information will be in your room on your dresser." Theodor said blatantly before turning back toward the house.
Molly happily skipped over to Eva with a beaming smile on her face. She was excited to have a human girl there with her. Someone she could make friends with. She had been alone with simply her family since she was born. "I'll be happy to show you around and show you to your room." Molly chimmed.
Eva smiled at the kind girl in a maids uniform. She looked like she was younger than her, like a high school girl. "I would like that." Eva said with a sigh of relief. The girl seemed fairly normal compared to the others.
Maria elegantly walked over and scolded Molly for being so childish and not acting professional. "I will accompany the two of you to assure we stay on task." She said almost motherly.

Once their mother was gone, it seemed the majority of the group relaxed. Isaac quickly darted inside followed by Adrian, just as a rubber band snapped Eva's face and Bobby gave an evil laugh.
Oscar shoved him inside roughly by the head before turning of Eva with a gorgeous, flirty grin, "how about I show miss Halloway to my room instead, I'm sure she would greatly prefer it," he said with a devilish glint in his eyes

"I'm flattered but I'm afraid that I should remain in a professional relationship with all of you." Eva said with a touch of blush on her cheeks. Molly giggled a little to herself at Eva's shut down of the twin.

He smirked, undeterred by her response, "that's what they all say, at first," he replied with a wink before heading inside without a glance back

"Don't let him get to you, he's all bark." Molly smiled as she took Eva excitedly by the arm guiding her toward her room. After walking down many hallways and up two sets of stairs, they arrived to Eva's room. Two doors down from Adrian, next door to Bobby, across from the twins, kitty corner from the twins, and two floors above their parents. "Home sweet home, I guess." Eva said

The sound of piano music drifted from Adrian's door, a sound that would soon become a constant for Eva to hear, while Bobby played with a remote control car in the hallway, bumping it into Eva's feet and cackling like it was a big prank rather than a nuisance. Aside from those two, the rest of the floor was quiet.

Eva pretended to ignore the car hitting her ankle as molly showed her her new room. It was spacious and clean. Pretty plain though. Grey walls, plain white bed, a walk in closet, and a desk with a small flat screen TV on it. She thanked Molly as she was left to unpack. Eva could hear a pianos melody coming from down the hall that peaked her curiosity. She was also surprised that Bobby was still up since it was getting late.

The piano music stopped abruptly after a few minutes, a signal to the rest of the kids that he would be on his way out soon. Oscar was waiting in the hallway for his older brother, waiting to pounce on him and convince Adrian to take him with. The twins were both curious as to where he always disappeared to, and they knew his quiet demeanor was nothing but a face he put on around family, but Oscar was the one who would actually go with him to find out.

Eva was nearly finished with her unpacking when the piano stopped playing. She placed her ring from her ex on the table. She knew she had some demons to deal with mentally but tonight wasn't the time for that. She came here for a fresh start. She peeked out into the hallway and spotted Oscar waiting out there.

Adrian stepped out almost at the same time that Eva did, stepping through the hallway quickly, and Oscar fell into step right behind him, "So, where are we going?" He asked like an annoying puppy.
The older brother grunted and answered simply, "We're not."
Oscar didn't seem to hear him and continued on their way downstairs, before coming back up after a few minutes, holding his shoulder like it was in pain and scowling.

After the boys walked away without so much as glancing in her direction, Eva went back into her room as her cell phone started ringing. It was her ex, Xavier. She ignored it, still mad at him for sleeping with her best friend on his birthday. The whole ordeal was a big mess. Just seeing his name on her screen made her heart race with rage. Suddenly she herd footsteps come back up the stairs, it was Oscar and he looked like he was in pain.

He glanced at her but didn't say anything before slamming the door to his and Isaac's bedroom.
"He's trying to figure out where Adrian always goes." Bobby said, "Adrian hates it." He explained before crashing the car into her feet again

Eva looked down at the little boy and his toy car. She smiled and kneeled down to his level. "I bet you know all the comings and goings of this place. Nobody sneakily watches peoples habits like kids do." She half smirked curious to hear the stories this kid was about to come up with.

Eva giggled a little at that. "My old bad habit is falling for jerks and I think I'm staying away from dating for a long time kid." She said standing back up and patting his head softly.

He stared at her like she just spoke in a different language, "Well there are a lot of jerks in this house, so maybe stay away from them. Except Isaac." He said, sounding far too intelligent for his age, and he had a huge grin on his face that said he knew she would do the exact opposite

"Don't worry kid, I'd be putting my job in jeprody if I tried dating one of your brothers I'm sure. Its late though isn't it little champ? Shouldn't we be getting to bed soon?" She said trying to do nanny duties that she thought needed to be done. She hasn't gotten the family schedule yet and wouldn't be getting her job run down until morning.

"Well I do and its getting to that time for me." She said as she ruffled his head and turned to go back into her room. Before she walked through her door she glanced down the hallway at the other boys rooms.

Isaac was now sitting exiting his own bedroom and heading for Adrian's, looking like he planned on snooping while his brother was gone. He was still in his baggy black hoodie that hid most of his face and had something tucked under his shoulder. Bobby sent his car flying to the boys feet and earned a glare before his target disappeared into the room, making the child sigh, obvious that he never really had someone to play with

As Eva sat in her bed her phone began dinging with text after text. *answer me Eva* *you can't run away from me* *Eva I'm giving you to the count of three.* *1* *2...* *2 1/2* *3...* *I'm coming for you Eva. There is no where you can hide to keep avoiding me.* Xavier's threats were becoming creepier and creepier by the second, but Eva was across the country and figured they were empty threats. She shut her phone off and turn the lights off to go to sleep.
