Alistair hesitated. "I must admit, I've had little experience with this. I've been a bit preoccupied for courtship. But I'll tell you what I've heard.
Remember that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it seems that something can cause no good, but it was meant to cause something: Perhaps to bring you to me, perhaps to cause you to found this colony. Perhaps to make you stronger. It was not futile or pointless. It was simply meant to be.
Live in the present and what is, instead of dwelling on what once was. Thinking on the past will not help you, only distract you. Similarly, you must let go of all anger, hatred or love. Moving on completely is important.
Naturally, you must also accept and be grateful for the support and friendship if those around you. And remember: This is over. It is in the past. But while that negative is no longer here, so many positives are. You have friends, and while you may always lose some, more still will remain. You have much reason to continue with your life."

She shakes her head a little then tries to stand. "I wish such things were as simple as they are spoken." She looks to the colony. "They are good people." She murmurs.
Then she lifts her head to the sky and sniffs. There was a scent there that wasn't there before. Narrowing her eyes she looks towards the colony again. "We need to go to the colony. There is a scent on the wind. It is not friendly. You should leave before it gets here."

He laughed. "No way am I leaving. Either they want you or the colonists, who I would prefer to protect, or they want me. And if they want me, I say let them come. I'm not a hard person to find, they'll be on my tail sooner or later. And they'd interrogate your colony to find out where I am, which I will not allow. I've got four guards there, but we should hurry all the same."

Her eyes flicker and she rose to her full height. "Whoever this is, they shall not last thing night."
She looks to him and nods as she leaps to the sky but moved swiftly and picked him up as she went. They reached the colony quickly. She was weak but there was still strength in her.
As they landed she let out a rumbling growl. Setting the king down gently. "That scent is familiar and that they are letting me catch it proves their arrogance."
She nods to the colonist who stood at the gates. "Lock it down. Put the children to safety and keep your eyes open. " She looks to the king. "If you are so determined to stay then do keep my people safe." She then turns her attention in the direction of the scent. She knew that smell.

"That is my first priority," Alistair agreed. "Guards! You- I want you ready to get help from the castle if this proves problematic. The rest of you- Protect the people." He shifted his gaze to Sapphire. "By the way- I'd rather you not pick me up like that. I'm a vampire; I'm perfectly capable of getting somewhere in a hurry. Supernatural speed, and all that."

She seemed to smile at him then shrug. "Yes but flying is always more fun."
Then her posture changed, she narrows her eyes as a large red dragon came into view. He was larger than Sapphire and his eyes filled with black. He shook his body as he stopped before Sapphire and the king.
"I come hunting for a king and find my brother's mate." His voice was a thunderous sound. "How interesting that you have not died yet. Either way you will be of no threat to me in your state." He seemed to laugh.
Then his eyes turn to the king."The one who rules all. Friends with such a weak guardian. Rumors are spreading little king." He smirks, it was still unclear if the male was there to cause trouble or simply satisfying his curiosity.

"Oh, 'friends' may be a bit uncertain. I helped her out of a tough spot a while back by helping her kill some Hunters, which was of course in my best interests. Then we met again, and had a.... Disagreement.... About my methods. Now, I'm here because the colonists called me. Would you mind telling me what you're doing here?"

The male seemed to smile. "That is not what your message around the world said." He shakes his body again. "It doesn't truly matter." He looks to the colony then the king and Sapphire. "Humans and supernaturals, working together, should never even been in the same sentence. Humans are pathetic creatures who kill whatever they want."
Sapphire growled low in her throat." Careful what you say next male because it could be taken as a threat to the king."
The male seemed to pur." Oh yes you love the humans. You were brought back as one. Hmmmm my brother did our kind a great service in leaving you there. Had hoped you would learn a lesson. Clearly not." He moves away. "Take my words as you wish but do not get comfortable in the peace." He turns and flies off.
Sapphire watched him carefully until he was out of sight. "My people must be moved from this location. It's not safe. He will return and his threat was clear. You must take caution. "

"Your people aren't the only endangered ones. In my message, I talked about our kinds now living together as one community. How it's already happening. My people may be a bit safer, at least for a month, but not safe at all, especially once my people have officially settled down in human lands and the humans have rebuilt their governments. Under my orders. After my war with the Hunters, I'm not sure I'm ready for war with dragons. Even with the humans on my side- They're not trained. Through cruel irony, I have dedicated my life these past years to torturing, then turning or killing the people best suited to kill Supernaturals. Now the world is out of Hunters, who are trained for this."

Sapphire gazed at him. "The balance of this world has indeed been changed but what helps us is there are not many dragons left in this world." She looks to the sky then nods.
"There is a way to avoid a large scale battle. If I challenge him to fight one on one then as a guardian he can not refuse. He is the leader of this as most of us dragons preferr to be left alone, he is the one causing this."

She shakes her head a little. "Interesting my current conditions ,no he would easily beat me. If we can protect the people for just a month. I can regain enough of my strength to deal with him. His weakness is his ego." She shakes her head a bit. "If we can just keep everyone safe...." she murmurs. It was a lot to ask, keeping the entire population of the earth safe. She feared though that there would be death in the mouth it will take her to grow stronger.

"Well, the government's still completely controlled by Supernaturals until I officially declare that the world is in a state of peace next month, but I'll put my guards on full alert just in case. The biggest danger until then is probably right where we're standing. Can your people fight?"

She shakes her head a little at him. "No, they are farmers all of them. Trades people. That is why I helped them because they couldn't help themselves." She looks around.
"They are good at hiding though and the caverns can sustain them but if we move all of them he will suspect something is up."

"I may have some men to spare that I could send. But it won't be enough. Not to protect them against a dragon. Alert the colonists: When I return, me and the guards I bring will train them in combat. They have to learn to defend themselves, and soon."

She shakes her head a little. "The ones that will fight and are willing, they will stay, the rest will go with the children to the caverns. " Moving away from him she made her way back towards the colony to inform the people of what would happen. Why would the male come out now though after so many years and where was his brother?

Alistair scowled and began a quiet growling deep in his throat. After being king for so long, he was not used to being disobeyed. He stood and gathered himself for a moment, trying to maintain his calm, before heading off to alert his army.

The colonists were worried and afraid but there was a few willing to fight. Once it was determined who would stay, the rest, mostly children and woman and those to weak or sick to fight were taken to the caverns with plenty of supplies for several months.
Once that was taken care of, Sapphire began her own training. She had much strength to gain back. She began to eat better and stayed at the colony to help watch over it. When she felt strong enough she would take her human form so as to hide out in the building and to meditate without being such a large target.
Her questions still troubling her and the gods were silent to her and gave her no answers. They were on their own in this fight.

Alistair returned soon, with several of his men accompanying him to train those willing and defend the colony. The majority of his men patrolled the world, alert and highly armed. The humans had been warned that a great threat was discovered, but not given details.
Alistair himself spent what time he could in the colony, but instead was usually at his castle, listening to reports on the situation and giving orders.

When ever Alastair was at the colony she would return to her dragon form. Each change seemed to help her grow stronger. As time went on her scales became brighter and weight began to return to her form.
The male dragon had been sighted here and there throughout the world but no acts so far. It made Sapphire uneasy. He was toying with them it seemed and she hated the games.
The training of the colonist had been going well. Some of the humans struggled as well as some of the supernaturals, they were not used to violence. When possible she would take to her human form and help with the training, encouraging them. It seemed to boast their spirit when she would.

The month was almost over and Alistair believed his army and Sapphire's militia were both as ready as they'd ever be. He revealed to Sapphire in private that he had secretly been training new Hunters for the occasion, who he had told the entire situation, and sworn into his service. This was a major show if trust, as the art was lost to humans.

Sapphire was grateful for Alastair's trust in her. She nods at his words and looked around them at the men training. "We are as ready as we will ever be." She looks to him. "I will call the challenge in a few nights. He may accept it. If he does by the laws, no one can interfere in the fight but that doesn't mean he will honor it. Should he go against the laws, it's means he forfeits the fight. "
She falls quiet a moment then says. "He will bring his brother." She looks at Alastair. "He will do it to distract me. This is where I will need your help the most."

"His brother was my mate." She says quietly then looks to the sky a moment before looking to him. "If the male does show up with my brother, he will hope to distract me. It is against the laws for spectators to fight and no fighting can happen during the challenge but you are great with words." She smiles warmly to him. "You have already proven that. You are a leader. I will need you to remind me of my focus. No matter who falls in the challenge ,my mate will not go quietly and will need to be dealt with after the fight." She says honestly.

"Keep you focused, make sure your ex doesn't cause trouble. Got it. Sounds easy enough. Now, unless there is more, I should probably tell my people. Choose a couple Supernaturals and Hunters to accompany me to the challenge.... Just in case."

She nods to him. "There is a large open field that is safe from all populations, that will be where the challenge shall take place. When you are ready, I shall issue the challenge. As soon as he accepts the fight will start in that moment so everything must be ready. "

"I'll be back shortly."
And he was. Almost immediately, with three Supernaturals and three Hunters, the best he had, all armed to the teeth. He himself was lightly armed, wearing only a set of light armor, a dagger hanging from his side and a sword strapped to his back.
"Are you ready to fight? Defeat is not an option. If you have the strength to go through with this already, then summon him and we shall begin."

There was no more time to waste. She nods to him and once at the large field, she released a loud thunderous roar that echoed to the skies and carried it's sound wide.
It didn't take long though for the large male to make an appearance. His expression was filled with humor as he landed before them. "A challenge, really guardian? This shall indeed prove interesting. " He stretches his wings and shook his body.
His eyes turn to the king and group with him. "Your witnesses I assume." He smiled coldly. "You will remember mine I'm sure."
At his words a second large male appeared from the clouds and landed beside his brother. They looked similar but yet different. The new comer looked to Sapphire but spoke nothing.
Sapphire ignored the male and nods to her opponent. "Let's begin."
The male smirks. "Indeed." The pair circled one another as they moved more to the open space, sizing each other as they regarded one another, looking for weaknesses in the other.

He kept an eye on him, simultaneously checking Sapphire so he could see if her head was still in the game.

The male known as Sapphire's mate was called Rizor. He snorts at Alastair's words but didn't respond as his eyes were fixed on Sapphire.
The two had stopped circling each other. There was a moment of silence before suddenly the two charged for one another. Their bodies slammed into one another with a thunderous sound as their claws tried to tear at the other.
The male got ahold of Sapphire's neck and flung her to the ground. She landed hard but as the male approached, she swung her tail, knocking him back and then rushing back up to slam into him one more. She managed to lock her jaws around one of his wings. She bit down hard and twisted sharply before being knocked back.
