Sapphire nods and shifts to her dragon form. Her scales shimmering softly before she dulled them so she would not stick out in such a dark world. Her eyes flicker as she gazes at the two men. "Then I shall begin the search."
There wasnt anymore time to waste now. They had to find Hope and restore earth as it was, balanced. This was not balanced.

“Good,” Death nodded. “We’ll find Shalidor and keep an eye on his activities, and await your return here.”

She nods a little, bowing her head to them. Then stretching her large wings, she took to the sky.
Moving fluidly through the air, she let her guardian powers stretch out and search the world. She was looking for the light in the darkness and the hope.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There were more survivors there than anywhere else, and nearly no signs of the hellish environment that had reached the rest of Earth.

Gently Sapphire had landed a bit from the area. Shifting to her human form, she was careful and remained alert. Her eyes scan the area. Just being there she could feel the difference in the air. The light was so much stronger here.
Moving towards the city, she kept to her human form and found herself hoping. Truly needing this help. She wanted nothing more than to destroy Shalidor.

The city seemed to be functioning like normal, except that there were a few guards out in front of the entrance.
“Hold,” said one, a woman in her early twenties, when Sapphire approached. She was wearing Kevlar and a helmet, and it was hard to see many details of her face. She looked Sapphire over, then smiled warmly. “Ah, it’s you. I’m sorry, my queen. Have to be careful in these troubled times. What is your business here?”

Sapphire nods softly as she stopped for the guard. It was strong, the presence here. A small smile touched her lips. "Trying to find the light in these dark times." She said as way of answer.

The guard nodded with a smile. “Nicely put. Well, you’ve come to the right place, that’s for sure. By some miracle, we’ve been spared from this apocalypse- At least so far. I think we’re going to make it out just fine, in fact. I might suggest talking to the mayor. I could show you the way, if you’d like.”

Sapphire nods softly. "Yes, that shall be a good start. Please lead the way." Talking to the mayor would be a good place to start but it would also give her a chance to check on the people in this city and overall make sure everything was okay at least in this place.

She smiled. “Cover for me, okay, guys?” She asked her fellow guards and, after friendly agreement, she began into the city. “Follow me, the Mayr works in the center of the city.”

Sapphire nods and follows the guard as they move through the city. "Thank you." She said as they went. Her eyes scanning the area as they walked. It was indeed as if the city had never been attacked at all or even touched. The children playing, adults doing chores and talking with one another. It was all normal events.
Children. Her heart ached for a moment before she pushed the thought aside and focused on where they were going.

Not only was the place untouched by Shalidor’s darkness, it seemed to be glowing. It was clear that something unnatural was here, but good, not like Shalidor. It more resembled heaven on Earth than Hell.
“Here we are,” She said, stopping in front of a building. “City hall.” She opened the door. “Queen Sapphire is here to see the mayor.”
A somewhat plump man in a suit and tie came out, smiling at the pair.
He looked to the guard. “It’s nice to see you again- Could you wait here actually, I’ve been meaning to speak with you.” Then he looked to Sapphire. “It’s nice to finally meet you, your majesty. I presume you’re here about what’s going on outside the city walls?”

Sapphire nods softly at the man's words. "Yes." She said. She was ready to hopefully get some answers. It was clear that Hope was here and keeping this city protected.

The mayor nodded. “I honestly couldn’t tell you exactly what it is that’s happening out there. I have one source that knows, but all she told me is that Shalidor made a literal Hell on Earth. She said the details would only pain me, and I haven’t pressed it. None of my scouts made it back alive, either. It’s like the environment itself tries to kill you as soon as you cross some invisible barrier, not to mention the creatures out there. But.... You were out there. I’m sure you already knew that. So why is it that you come here? A safe place to rest? We certainly have that, at least so far- For as long as we’re protected. As long as there is hope.”

She nods again. "The details..are better left unsaid. I'm here mostly to see the light here. It is keeping back the hell that has taken over and I am hoping to spread such a light to the rest of the world. To save more." She says honestly.

“Of course. There’s a nice hotel near here you could stay at.” He looked to the guard. “Maybe you could act as a guide to the queen, once we’ve spoken.”
She nodded. “Of course. It would be my pleasure.”

Sapphire nods softly. "I greatly appreciate it. I can wait outside while you two speak." She says softly before stepping outside. She let the fresh air fill her lungs for a moment. This had to get fixed.

After a couple minutes, the guard came back outside. She flashed Sapphire a smile. “Come on. The hotel’s this way. You should at least get checked in there, then if you want to see or do anything else, just ask.”

Sapphire nods to the guard. "Checking in will be good. Maybe a few hours rest before exploring the city." She says. She needed to be rested a little at least.

They reached the inn and the guard approached the innkeeper and began speaking to him. The innkeeper smiled and nodded as he spoke, and then the guard returned.
“Alright, I got you the room. It’s right upstairs, third door to the left. Follow me.”

She waited for the guard to finish with the innkeeper as she looked around curiously.
As the guard returned to her, she nodded and smiled. "Thank you." She began to follow the guard to the room she had been given.

“Here you go,” she said, stopping at a door and holding out the keys to Sapphire. “I’ll be right across the hall. Let me know if you’d like a look around- Or if you want any information, I happen to know just about as much about this town as the mayor.”

Sapphire accepted the keys from the guard. Then smiles and nods her head. "I greatly appreciate that. Give me about an hour or so to rest then would like to look around." She says.

“Of course,” she smiled, then turned and headed back toward her own room. Once inside, she sat on her bed and looked back to the door, in deep thought. She looked sad, as if she already had an idea of what was coming and didnt like it.

Sapphire had stepped into her room and closing the door behind her. She moved to the window and gazed out it a moment before going back towards the bed. Alright it's time to figure this out, she thought to herself. She needed to convince her to help. How to do that was the trick though.
She rubs her head as she thinks, grimacing at her sudden exhaustion.

The guard pulled out a book and began to read. She was restless now, but she had to wait on Red Sapphire. But when they started the tour, how would she approach the subject? She had expected it to come up already, but it hadn’t, so she might have to bring it up on her own. But how....?
She shook her head and returned to her reading. She would figure it out. She always did.
