Tilting her head she regards him quietly. "Find peace. You will need that in years to come." She moves her tail gently, wrapping it about her body. "This body of mine will not last much longer. As a guardian I shall be reborn but it will be many years from now and it will be in the former of something you hate so greatly."
She smiles softly. "Find me in that life. I will not have my memories of you or this place but guide me here in my new life and I will remember. You can not force it though. You must find kindness for this human. "

He sneered. "Oh- You're serious. Fine. For you... But why would you return as a human? And how can I find you? Above all, how would you be able to help? And, find peace. Yes, I will find peace in the knowledge that all that would have me dead are dead. The knowledge that all remaining mortals are the ones not filled with disdain for my kind."

She seems to chuckle a little. "It is not for me to decide how I return to this world. It is decided for me." She lays her head down and curls up.
"This female human will bare a mark on her left wrist in the shape of a dragon. You will know it is me. " She watches him a moment then says. "I think you will be surprised by the change in you."
Closing her eyes, her body began to change. Her scales turning grey as her body became hard stone. A statue to forever be in that place.

"I guess that means I'm alone, for now." he muttered to himself. Then he smiled. No, it didn't. He had allies, many and powerful. Vampires and other supernatural beings. He'd create a team.... An anti-human task force.
Much, much later.
War. That was the only word for what was happening. Alistair had traveled across the world, making alliances with every supernatural being that would join him, then came out into the open by launching a full frontal assault on America, which was quickly overpowered through the element of surprise. Most of its adults were killed. The survivors fled- To Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. The rest of the world quickly switched most of its military to Hunters, employing everyone who could fight and, in many countries, those who could not. But the taking of America convinced many other supernaturals to join Alistair's cause, and he became known as King Alistair. He led the Supernaturals, trying to take the rest of the world. And the humans retaliated. They fought back. They had retaken New York. Some battles the Hunters won, some the Supernatural. Now that the humans were aware and alert, it was a pretty even battle. It was uncertain who would win. The Supernaturals had one order, however, that they did not quite understand, but followed nonetheless, trusting King Alistair completely: If they found a girl with a dragon mark on her left wrist, she was to be brought straight to Alistair himself, alive and unharmed. Alistair had never forgotten Sapphire or her words. I think you will be surprised by the change in you. King of all Supernaturals, future leader of the world, ruler of the United States. All Supernaturals followed him, and all humans feared him. Surely this must be what she had meant. So why did he still feel uneasy?

In the New York area the humans had managed to secure the harbor which allowed travel and supplies to get through. It was difficult to hold but they had managed. Some of the land had been switched to farming and maintained so that there was plenty of food.
Through the years of war, a young girl had been born with the mark. Fearing that mark her parents had special gauntlets made that went over her wrists, protecting them but also hiding the mark from anyone.
Her parents were the only one to know about the mark. They were killed during a raid by supernaturals. It left her alone but she quickly learned to survive on her own and grew up in the ranks as a fighter.
After several years she had become a leader to the harbor and kept watch. They would do patrols in groups of four at all times. No one under age was allowed to fight. They went to school and learned their basic stuff but also about weapons and survival.
Her name was Dina and she had just turned 25 this year. Her blue eyes and black hair made her stand out at times but it was her skill as a fighter more so. She didn't kill though without reason. There had been times when she had released creatures instead of killing them.
It was growing dark out and she was headed out to meet her group for the patrol to start. Sitting astride her horse.

That's when the Supernaturals attacked, hordes of them, led by King Alistair himself. Their goal was to retake the Lost State, New York. They outnumbered and overpowered the humans, and their appearance was sudden. They quickly killed many, sparing only the children as they always had. King Alistair himself went only where the Hunters were strongest. And then he saw her. A girl whose wrists were covered, of the right age. This was not the first to fit the description, and would likely not be the last either, but all possible reincarnations if Sapphire he spoke with personally. "Leave her!" he commanded his Supernaturals. "Guard us, don't let any Hunters break through." He approached her slowly. "Your wrists. Show them."

Dina had just reached the group when the attack had begun. Those on foot were wiped out quickly and those on horseback were ripped from their saddles.
It was chaos. She had drawn her blade, a sword that fit her body weight perfectly. Maneuvering her horse she managed to take out a few before her horse had reared and was taken down by a larger creature.
As she tried to get out of the way, her arm hit the ground first. The break was clear and sent red hot pain through her body.
She struggled back to her feet, her left arm useless at her side but she picks her blade up and starts to fight again.
That voice that echoed the command had her stop. When she saw him she knew it was the king. The one who had started all of this so long again.
Show her wrists to him? She glared at him and stood still, planting her feet and lifting her blades before her. "I will do no such thing!" Why her wrists. Then she tenses, her mark! Why was he looking for that?

"I'm not used to being disobeyed. I need to see your left wrist. It is your only chance of survival." He came ever closer, gradually nearing her.

She tenses again as he just kept coming closure. She tried to back away from him but stopped ,realizing she had no where to run to. The taste of fear filled her as she looked back at him, tightening her grip on her sword. "I will not do what you want" She had to refuse. Surviving just because she had the mark? Surviving while so many of her people were dying around her. Their screams filling her ears.

"I promise you, this is important. What do you want? I don't want you as my enemy. If you're who I think, you can save lives. If I'm right about you, you would have a very important part to play in this role. You can change history. Wouldn't you like a chance to help shape the world as you'd like it?"

His words confused her. They weren't at all what she had expected from the king who had started the war against humans.
Slowly she lowered her blade. Her left arm was still useless from the break, blood had started dripping down her fingers from the opening wound where the bone was sticking out.
Using her right hand as she set her blade down, she unattached the gauntlet. The process painful but she got it free and slid it off then turned her wrists to reveal the mark.

He stared in awe, not daring until this moment to truly hope. His next words were aimed at his soldiers: "Halt! Kill nobody. Act only in self-defense." All this time he didn't move his eyes from the Mark. "That is what you want, is it not? For their lives to be spared? Perhaps we can discuss this in better circumstances. Perhaps a walk through the woods, once you've been healed up and fed properly. Maybe even a rest first, if you wish. You have my word that you and your friends will all be quite safe, provided none of you try to attack us, of course. What do you say?"

Could she really trust his words? Yet as he spoke them, she knew she could. Her legs felt weak from relief as soon all the fighting has stopped. The screams dying off as well.
She nods a little. "No more death?" She nods again then looks to the few men that were still standing from her group. "Marcus!"
A tower of a man stepped forward, his expression guarded. "Ma'am?"
"Tend to the wounded and bury the dead. No more fighting. Send the call out." She said.
He wanted to hesitate but didn't as he nods and gave out the orders. Another took off to spread the word as others fanned out to find the wounded and to tend to the dead.
She looks back at the king. "Let's talk then..." The pain was getting harder to ignore in her arm and the blood had soaked her sleeve and pooled on the ground. She didn't want to move though. Fearing this to be a dream.

"With that arm? You're wounded; I can heal you quickly. Or.... Our destination. There's a place in the forest, beside a healing lake that may be of interest to you. It is there we must go, so you may remember when we last met.... When we were allies, fighting the humans together. But I am getting ahead of myself. Vampire blood has healing properties, though I take it you'd want to avoid that?"

She stared at him confused for a moment. A lake that could heal? She fought against humans? She shakes her head slightly.
"How can that be possible? I've been a human my entire life...why would I fight my own...?" She shakes her head again. Then grimaces as she was starting to feel light headed.
Still she wouldn't take his blood though. She wouldn't do that ever. She shakes her head slightly but she was losing blood and she was about to collapse.

He nodded, disappointed- though it wasn't clear if his disappointment was from her refusal to take his blood or her lack of memory on the matter of their past. "OK, mortal first aid it is. Timothy! Would you bring some, and quick? Then a quick meal and off to the lake. Or perhaps it would be wise to dine after the trip? What do you think, Sapph-" he asked instinctively, then hesitated. "Er, what's your name?"

She blinks a little and finally let's herself sit down before she fell down. This king was nothing like what she had expected. It puzzled her.
"My name is Dina." She says.

"Dina. Interesting. Ah, thank you, Timothy!" Alistair began working on her wounds, cleaning them out, bandaging them, so on. "Good," he said finally, seemingly satisfied. "A few minutes rest, then we can go." He turned back to his army. "Guard the land borders. They aren't to try retaking the other states. But otherwise, leave them in peace. The only provocation is attack. Remember your orders."

She grimaces a little from the pain of the bone having to be put back into place. She didn't cry out though and jerk away as she stayed still.
Looking to him carefully as he gave his orders to his men. It was surprising to hear the words but it seemed to make it all more real. Once her arm was put back together and bandaged up she started to relax a little more.

And so he led her to the forest, through the spot where the humans had camped, long ago to the lake where Sapphire had died. As he did, he spoke. He told her why he had started this war, why he had vowed to destroy humanity: He told her aboutvturning, about the uncontrolled hunger, how he had tried to resist, been disgusted with what he had become. How the humans, his friends and family, looked down upon him for something that was not his choice. How he spent centuries after hunted and loathed by mankind, who refused to accept what they didn't understand, who hated everything that was different. He told her how he tried to be human, but was seen as less. How no one could accept him. How, finally, he gave in to the hate and returned it, turning his back at long last on those he had once belonged to. How humans could never change, but must instead be eliminated. Then they reached the dragon statue.

As they walked, she heard his story. It wasn't as she expected. He had tried with humans but they had turned their backs on him. She felt sorry for him in that manner. No one should be rejected just because of what they were. It was a dark thing but it was the truth of how the world is.
As they reached the large lake, she gazed at its waters curiously. It was a beautiful place.
It was the sight of the large dragon statue that resided by the lake that drew her attention. Quietly, she walked to it reaching out she placed her hand on it. A gasp leaving her lips as the memories come flooding back with sharp clarity. Her knees buckle and she falls to the ground. Her hand still touching the statue.

He watched her attentively as they reached the statue, curious as to how she would react. He almost grabbed her before she could fall, but decided it may be best not to interfere, just in case the memories needed another moment to return completely. He waited a few seconds, then: "Do you remember the next part now? How the humans surrounded me, how I tricked them, how they accepted me. How I freed you, and we fought them together?"

Her eyes seem to flicker a little as she looks up at him. The memories were like a wave battering against her mind. All of it at once, pulling at her. A slight tremble went through her body. The pain they had put her through in the past, she could feel all of it now at once. It took her several long minutes to catch her breath.
slowly, she sat up, leaning against the large stone statue. "I...remember...All of it..." She shakes her head slightly and looks away from him to the water. "The things they did to her...to me..." She shakes her head again. Then she looks to the forest. "This was my home...and they tried to take it from me...wanted to destroy all who lived in it...you helped stop that." She rubs her head a bit.
"Why are we so cruel to each other..." She murmurs.

"Then you understand how I feel. Why I need justice. I told you my plan, years ago. And I'm succeeding. I've taken several small countries, and, most notably, 47 of the American states. We are about to secure Alaska and Hawaii. Germany and Italy have nearly fallen. Even with the world rapidly training people as Hunters, it is falling quickly. But I made a real to spare the children because of their innocence. They don't have to be the only ones. New York -and possibly the rest of the original colonies- can be human civilization. A home for those who will accept Supernaturals. They can live, raise their children to accept us likewise. They can spreadm. Supernatural and human can live in harmony, so long as those with other mindsets die. Do you have any thoughts?"

She gazed at him quietly a moment then looked out at the water. "There will be a lot who won't accept this...mostly because there has been a lot of death by your kind now." She moves to stand up. "Without realizing it, you had become like the humans in the past."
She moves to the water, touching it with her foot to disturb it's surface. "Much like a disturbed water surface, each ripple has an effect and to stop it all of a sudden once set in motion, only creates more ripples. "
"It's going to take patients from both sides." She looks back at him.

She turns and looks to him now. "As a human I've dealt with this life as one. My parents were simple farmers. They never hunted, never killed, never put traps out. The supernaturals came one night, they slaughters my parents before my eyes in slow agonizing deaths as they begged for our lives and their land." She shakes her head. Those supernaturals did it in your name, under your orders."
She turns her eyes back to the water. "This is a horrible cycle that has only been made worse." She murmurs

"You see, that is why I propose a truce and wish for us to live in harmony. Some of you have learned to respect us through fear. Others, like your parents, pose no difficulty. The rest, unfortunately, must die. Now that we have shown we have the strength to fight for a place in this world, perhaps the humans can finally accept us."
