"M-Mari Shiro." She curtsied with a nervous smile and wary eyes. Mari hoped being short would have him not acknowledge her much.

"Such a pleasure to meet you, I have heard my little brother has decided to give up on his destiny, I must say he has guts to bring someone like you and also his royal betrothed, personally I wouldn't have made that mistake" he man told her, his eyes boring holes into her face

"Gorgio screw off before I make you regret it" Raven told him "Especially in front of the only person that can take away your daddy's precious throne"

He apologized like his mother had, forced to bow his head to Raven regardless of his distaste, before being called away

"That's Luca's oldest brother, he's pretty pissed he wasn't the one offered my hand." Raven said, clearly agitated

"I'm sorry you're going through this to keep a watch on me." Mari said softly to Raven as she lowered her head trying to keep from more family members taking jabs at her so Raven didn't have to keep protecting her.

"LUCA!!" Mari heard a squeal from across the room as she watched one of the vampiresses leap into his arms while he laughed and squeezed her back

Mari felt a wave of jealousy and guilt sweep over her. She wasn't going to make a scene her but was definitely going to have to ask about the girl later but at the same time she didn't want to jump to conclusions. She didn't know it but her emotions were clearly written on her face.

Raven laughed "that's his little sister" she said while their mother scolded her for such childish behavior "Anabelle!" Raven called her over and gave her a bear hug of her own

"Ravina it's been so long!!" The girl squealed again despite her mothers disagreements. She looked to be around her 20s just like everyone else, but had a somewhat childish face (partially due to her huge grin) and her hair only reached just below her shoulders, only slightly longer than Mari's. "I've missed you!"

Raven corrected her name again, but much gentler with Anabelle, obviously fond of the girl "this is Mari, Luca's chosen mate"

The girl jumped into a hug with her like she had with the other two "hi, I'm Anabelle, I'm the baby in the family" she said with a giggle "I'm so happy he finally found someone to love!"

Raven laughed "poor girl, I couldn't imagine having 7 older siblings."

"I couldn't even imagine one." Mari laughed. "At least Anabelle is nice." She added brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Luca came back and touched his hand to the small of her back "sorry..." He said, embarrassed by his family

Mari shook her head "don't be, your little sister seems delightful." She smiled at him.

"She can be a handful too though, that's Ravens influence" he said with another chuckle. A few commoners talked to him, they seemed to be the only ones that bowed to Luca, and he talked with seniority that Mari could feel even though their discussion was in another language (though they would try to speak some broken English too)

Suddenly the crowd hushed all at once as a woman started descending the gigantic staircase that divided the back wall. She was beyond gorgeous even in her obvious old age, and her locks touched the floor, even with the very large pile that was upon her head. Her sharp eyes out Ravens to shape and the frown on her face made Mari want to run. As she reached the last section of the stairs, everyone in the audience bowed their heads (how obvious can I make this about who it is? Lol)

Mari figured this was ravens mother and followed suit and bowed with the others. She could feel her heart race with angst and nervousness.

Luca, hearing her heart race, moved her hand on her back just barely, enough to remind her he was there

The woman spoke then, her voice traveling to all corners of the huge space "I had heard news that my dearest Ravina would come back, but I did not believe it to be true"

"It's Raven." She corrected yet again, that was when Mari noticed she hadn't moved in the slightest to show respect like the others had, and still stood up straight with her head high "Raven Da Vigo to you, mother." She said with a slight growl

"Such a shame to throw away your grandmothers beautiful name like that," the lady said with a exaggerated sigh "I welcome you back, my daughter. The rest of you may rise and continue." She announced before starting down the rest of the stairs, the crowd slowly rose again and started the busy chattering as before

"Don't be too scared by Signora Moretti, she is not too strict after her husbands death..." A random person with yellow eyes told Mari

Mari jumped a little at the random persons voice. "I've heard. I'm surprised her and Raven aren't at each others throats." She said

Someone else had started another conversation with Luca, most likely about the ominous "politics"

"Signorin- I mean Signora da Vigo will most likely receive the throne soon..." The man replied to her with a certain look on his face "well honestly no one knows what Signora Moretti will do..."

The people in the middle of the floor seemed to part for a dance area and they moved to the side

Mari moved to the side with the crowd. In the shift, Mari got separated from Luca and Raven. Her being short as she was, she was easily sweeped up in the crowd

"This is the Signorina Shiro?" Another man asked her, this one she recognized but could not figure out from where, he must have been another family member of Lucas though, his face looked close enough to his

"Yes, how do you do?" She curtsied to be polite.

He smiled Luca's sweet smile and held out his hand while he bowed "would you care to give me the honor of a dance?" He asked her

Mari glanced around hoping to see Luca and for him to come swoop in but still no sight. "A-alright I suppose that would be ok." She said a little shyly

While the mans eyes said seduction, he was ever the gentleman as they danced, keeping appropriate boundaries, "you still smell human, you must be newly turned?" He asked her

"Y-yes.. this is all fairly new to me, so forgive me if I make a mistake and do or say anything that might be considered disrespectful." She said softly keeping her eyes on her feet. Mari could feel the seductive look he gave but felt nothing mire than fear and nervousness. She didn't know how to handle this situation or if she should be talking to him, much less dancing with him.

He chuckled at her nervousness "was Luca the one who changed you?" He continued asking questions

"Thank you, I'm happy he chose me, and I don't believe Raven would be happy with that life. She's a wild soul to run with, not to tame, and Luca is as tame as they come I think." She smiled lightly.

He laughed "not much else is allowed around here when you're so low on the food chain. Will you be joining us for dinner tonight?"
