(I'm trying to sort in my head through all the stuff we need to do... I kinda realized too late my original plan had changed a little bit)

"Listen, Mari" Luca started to tell her what was on his mind "I have to go back to Italy for a while... More politics..." He said with a fake laugh and an eye roll

"You know I can tell when you're lying right? You're not good at it." Mari said folding her arms

He frowned "I'm not lying..."

"He's just trying to pretend the drama in the palaces aren't slowing killing him" Raven explained, sitting down on a couch "why don't you take her with anyways? I have some yellow contacts she can use. I was even thinking about making an appearance myself..." She said with a huge grin "give them all a heart attack"

"I don't want to be more trouble. I know I've caused a lot." Mari said not wanting to impose but not wanting to leave him either.

Raven snorted at that "you mean on the idea of going into a place crawling with blood sucking monsters you're worried about being the trouble?"

"Ravina- I mean, Raven, please... It's not safe" Luca said "you should stay here, I'll be back within the month"

Ignoring Lucas warning of danger, Mari turns to Raven. "Well if you don't think it'll be a big deal I'll tag along." She said.

"I'd really rather you not-"

"Oh common Luca it'll be so fun! Will you let it go if I come with and promise to protect the human?? Pleeeeease" She said, play begging

He sighed "fine.... But... Be careful..."

Mari smiled. "I will do everything I'm told there I promise." She said excited to see Italy.

The next day was spent preparing for their trip, although they did pack rather light, they would "buy stuff for our stay" once they got there anyways, according to Luca.

When the flight touched down in Italy, the first thing she noticed was how crowded it was, and that she couldn't understand a word of what anyone said. Luca helped her through the crowd with an arm around her waste while Raven and Siena walked behind them "100 years and the beggars are still swarmed like flies" she said

When they went between a couple of buildings from the airport, they broke through to what looked like an old little town with a river going straight down the middle and little boats going back and forth down it (this is where I really wanna go to Italy so I can paint a good picture)

Luca leaned over slightly towards Mari "this is a very small town in Italy, our homes are on an island a little ways away by boat" he told her

Mari was captivated by the town and it's treasures. "While we are here, can we take a gondola ride one of these nights?" Mari bashfully whispered to Luca.

(Gondola, that's it, I forgot the word lol)

Raven giggled because that was how they would get to their town anyways a little at that as Luca waved one of the gondola rowers over and handed him some coins from his suit pocket, speaking to him in Italian, then he helped Mari into it while the other man helped Raven and Siena.

They went all the way down the stream, and then continued into the open water while Raven talked

"We're going to sneak you into the maids quarters so that we can get you ready for the ball tonight"

(So for their town I'm thinking blast from the past like they just stepped into the 1700s because vampires are really old timy and also I friggin love that sort of thing lol)

(Lol I can go for that. And my bad with the gondola, I didn't realize that was the boat thing you meant. But a late night gondola ride through town would be awesome)

Mari nodded and stayed close to Luca. Her golden eyes seemed so bold with her pink hair.

(Ikr, I actually completely started this story because of a historical fiction book about Italy

After about 20 minutes, the town came into view, the gondola man announced "Il dominio di Moretti" (Moretti domain) before pulling along the side and letting his passengers off. The island itself, though very large in overall size, held a very small town, the rest was all the palazzos of the different Royal vampires. They waved down another Taxi to get to the maid quarters that Raven had talked about, passing large castle-like buildings that had different family seals, like the one Luca had on his finger, decorating them (which is a detail I'll probably forget about lol)

"I feel like I've gone back in time." Mari said softly as she took it all in. She felt nervous knowing that she was mixed in with a bunch of vampires after what happened last time

"You kind of are" Luca replied "Moretti's are very old fashioned..." He said with an annoyed look
When they reached the maids quarters, the building looked much smaller and more plain than the rest, and two girls with yellow eyes came out to meet them

Mari curtsied politely to the best she could and kept to herself afraid of giving herself away as human.

(I'm gonna time warp again because I'm not really sure how to fill time lol)

Around 6 pm they took a black horse cart to the largest building in the area, with the family name "Moretti" written everywhere.

The maids had taken Mari and Raven to dress them up in the heaviest dresses Mari had ever worn, with many layers and an old fashion corset they called a "stay" that Raven apparently loathed. They did Ravens hair in the half updo Mari had seen in the paintings (partially up with enough to go way down) and left Mari's in slight curls, but otherwise untouched. Apparently Moretti balls were a very big thing and, for tradition, they tried to keep it as accurate to the times when the last king was appointed (around mid 1800s).

When the cart pulled up, Luca opened the door for Mari and helped her out, when he caught sight of her he grinned "it looks very good on you" (something like the image)

Mari blushed a little. "I feel like I'm wearing a carpet." She laughed a little. She was relieved to see him and wanted to wrap her arms around him and never let go but she decided it'd be better if she didn't.

He held out his arm and led her inside "whatever happens, just curtsey and smile" he said, nervous. Raven jumped out behind him, grunting "I still hate this god forsaken stay" she muttered, "let's go"

Mari giggled a little are ravens dislike of the constricting dress. "I'll be on my best behavior." She smiled reassuringly at him

When they stepped through the extravagant entrance into a very large area that was empty aside from a couple of servants and a few people who looked human, "this event is a special one where Signora Moretti brings in any human guests that wish to join..." Luca said quietly. When they went from the entrance room to the main room it seemed as though the palazzo exploded with people everywhere, dressed nicely but most people wore lower quality than she did. Mari looked around, trying to spot the vampires in the crowd, and soon realizing just how easy it was. While she didn't know any of them, the royals stuck out amongst the commoners with their black hair, pale skin, red eyes, extravagant clothing, and postures of absolute confidence. She noticed 3 men however she could not figure who might be older or younger, and one female who, due to her hair reaching just at her lower back, must have been younger than Raven... Speaking of Raven, Mari could feel the tension in the air surrounding the girl, though she couldn't exactly understand why...

Mari took in the crowd and Ravens tenseness. Mari could see the red and the gold eyes sticking out like fireflies on a dark night.

Then an obviously older woman (from the length of her hair again) came up to Luca, speaking forced cheery gibberish and then turned to Mari, the words taking the tone of a question towards her
"Ma..." Luca started, trying to explain she didn't speak the language

"I find it rather rude to speak a foreign language to a guest that obviously doesn't know it when you know the English language very well." Raven cut it

"I apologize for knowing only English, my name is Mari and it's a pleasure to meet you." Mari said nervously with a curtsy. She did her best to play it cool and keep her manners through her nervousness. She noticed that Raven didn't seem rather fond of the woman

The woman ignored her when she saw Raven, going into a deep curtsey, and addressing Raven with much more respect "signorina Moretti..." She stammered "my apologies"

"It's signora Vigo." Raven snapped "I'm not the one you should apologize to either."

The woman turned back to Mari "I apologize," she said "Luca, I would like to speak with you please" she then took his arm for him to walk with her

"He'll be right back," Raven said "don't mind them, they're all full of themselves"

Mari turned a little pink and nodded to Raven. Mari decided it might be a good idea to stick with Raven around here. Raven was truly something to admire.

"Oh Signorina, how long it has been so long" a gentleman told her with a low bow, speaking in English as though she had heard the previous conversation

"It's signora." She corrected again, annoyed

"Oh yes I always forget about your marriage, so sad to hear about your loss" he said, "and who is this signorina?"
