Alistair looked her in the eyes for a moment, judging his options. "Very well. But I am not happy about this. It worries me. I will come, accompanied by a small task force of my best men, along with the human Hunters I trained. You will draw him out, and a couple of my men will escort you back to the castle. They will be rough if required. The rest of us will finish this."

She nods slightly at his words. "Let's get this over with. " She gives a faint smile. This task was not going to be easy and her heart was already heavy with the decision but she knew that the male had to be stopped.
Once Alastair and his men were ready, she headed out with them to an area that was away from towns and their people. She stayed in human form and waiting in the opening alone with the men hidden.

"Remember the plan and, when you're being escorted back, don't fight it."

She nods at his words but she feared she wouldn't be able to keep that promise. She was glad for the men he had brought with him. She knew them all to be strong.
As the hours passed she let her mind think back to those old days. What had changed? A lot. She had sat down in the field as she waited quietly.
After a while the large dragon soon appeared landing not far from her. His scales had grown darker and his eyes glowed red.
He seemed to be leering at her. "Come to beg for their lives? Sacrifice yourself to me?" He taunted.
She moves to her feet as she gazed at him. "I came to put a stop to your killing path. As Guardian and order by King, you are sentenced to death for your crimes."
He smiled coldly at her. "As if you will allow it. You are still bonded to me or have you forgotten to tell your king this?"

Alistair glanced uneasily at Sapphire before returning his gaze to her mate. "She has accepted your fate and agreed that this is the best way. She has also kindly agreed to leave, as she is unable to stomach your death." He clapped his hands and two men came forward to lead her away.

The male began to laugh and lowered his head so he was level with Alastair. "So she has not told you what bonding means to a dragon. " He laughs again as he lifts his head.
"There is reasons why there are not many of us left." He smirked coldly. "When two dragons are mated, their lives are tied together. What perfect way to live forever when mated with the only dragon that gets reincarnated." He laughs.
Sapphire tenses and clenched her hands. Did he ever care for her?
The male smirked. "Kill me king and you could kill her. Do you dare kill your friend?" He taunts.
Sapphire backed away slightly. "No more innocent lives can be taken." She looks to Alastair, there was sadness in her eyes but she nods to him. "Kill him. I will survive him. I can not die of a broken heart because he already destroyed it with his betrayal. " She turns to walk away with the two men.
It was hard, she didn't want this. She wanted to defend her mate, protect him but he was killing innocent people both human and supernaturals. He had to be stopped. She understood this but it did not make it any easier.

The Supernaturals and Hunters surrounded her mate, making sure he didn't retreat. Alistair turned to Sapphire. "Before you go. If he's killed.... Would you not simply be reincarnated again? Couldn't you just return, perhaps with another dragon mark so I can locate you?"

She stops and looks to Alastair. "I am not certain. There is hope as I still hold the title of guardian."
Her mate growled at those who surrounded him. "I will kill you all." He snaps his jaws as a threat.
Sapphire tenses and took a step toward her mate. She hadn't realized she had done it.

"Sapphire," Alistair warned. "Back. Return to the castle. He must die. I will hope for the best in your case. NOW!" His army of Supernaturals and Hunters all attacked at once, followed swiftly by Alistair himself. They surrounded him, using all skills and weapons they had at their disposal.

Sapphire flinched slightly and looked to Alastair. She nods a bit and starts to head back with the two meant to escort her. Her body trembled and her hands were clenched at her sides. She was fighting the urge to defend her mate with all she had.
The male roared in anger and in pain as the weapons eventually broke through his scales. He snarled and thrashed ,swiping with his deadly claws at the hunters and supernaturals. He would not be destroyed easily.

Perhaps not easily. But fall he must. Supernatural and Hunter alike fell, though not as many as one might expect when fighting a dragon. These men were skilled and specially trained. A blast of fire came at a legion of Hunters, and Alistair ran over with vampiric speed, pushing them away. He himself barely survived, but he stood back up anyway, weak but fighting. He would not stay down, not until his last breath.

As the male saw the weakened state of the king ,he laughed. His own body was covered in blood and his breathing ragged. "What is the matter king? Having a hard time?" He taunted.
He was close to death though, he would fall soon.
Sapphire had started to struggle the further they got away. It became harder for her to leave him. She felt the pain being inflicted on him. Those escorting her had no choice but to knock her out because she had started to shift to her dragon form.

Alistair laughed, too. "No trouble. And you?" The Hunters he had saved had already rejoined the fray, using all the weapons and techniques that worked best on dragons. They were getting through his hide. They were killing him, and quickly. Alistair picked his sword bank up from the ground and limped over to finish the job.

After more attacks, the male finally fell to the ground, too weak to stand and too weak to lift his head. He gazed at the king. "Be done with it." His eyes changed to a deep green as finally the darkness broke but only for a moment. He would lose control again.

Alistair walked dramatically over to him and raised his sword to stab him through the head.... ....And collapsed, too weak to continue. One of the Hunters ran to his side, attempted a killing blow on the dragon, and knelt beside him. Alistair said something, then his breathing stopped. The Hunter looked up solemnly and shook his head.

The male finally passed from the final strike.
Sapphire woke tied to her bed as her mate passed. The pain slammed through her as if her heart was being torn. Slowly the pain faded but she remained sick for a few days.
Finally on the third day, a guard came to untie her and tell her what had happened and why Alastair had not come to see her. Tears had filled her eyes but upon hearing about the king's last words, she ignored her weakness, determined to be a part of the search.
It took her two more days to be well enough and was constantly monitored but she ignored concerns and focused on finding the prince.

"Okay, it's time," The Hunter came to her again one day. He had been checking up on her, since apparently Alistair had wanted the two of them to be the ones searching for the prince. "We believe the prince is in England, either in London or nearby. That's all we know so far. His name is Matthew. Pack light. Air travel hasn't fully recovered from the war yet, so we're taking a boat, The Blood King. Don't worry, it's not as creepy as it sounds. It was Alistair's personal ship."

She looks to the guard and nods at his words. "I will be ready shortly then." She smiles a bit about the comment about the ship. "I'm sure there are worse things out there."
As she had said, soon she was ready and travelled with the hunter to find the prince.

The Blood King was actually a nice ship, perhaps a bit darkly furnished but sizable and fancy nonetheless. "Where are my manners?" The Hunter had his arms crossed on the rail and was looking over into the sea, his eyes not even on Sapphire. "All this time, and I don't believe I've even introduced myself. It's Hunter. Fitting name, I suppose. I wonder if that was somehow done on purpose."

She smiles softly as she stood at the railing with him, enjoying the view as the ship began to leave port. It would be her first time on such a ship.
"A fitting name indeed. Sometimes there is reason for a name. Yours is a good one." She comments.

"If course, I don't need to ask your name, Sapphire. You're famous. This will be a long ride, you know. I hope you can keep yourself occupied."

She makes a face a little. "Famous was never something I wanted. I did it for him though." She murmurs. Then smiles a bit. "I'm good at keeping myself occupied."

"We all did it for him. I grew up in a family of Hunters, which I guess is how I got my name. I was raised to hate vampires. And one had started World War Three, so I was ready to get rid of every last one of them. But then he stopped the war too. Ushered in the time of peace. I had never even become an official Hunter. Probably why he let me live. Most vampires would have killed all of us, but he stopped. And he let the ones who accepted him live. And the children- Ever since the beginning, he'd spared them. So, I.... Well, I wondered. Were all vampires really that bad? Or were they like humans- Some good, some bad? A few bad apples spoiled the bunch? I gave them a shot. And I don't regret it."

She smiles a bit. "He was a one of a kind." She stared out over the sea. "When him and I first met, he had freed me from some hunters that were on a war path to slaughter all supernaturals. In that moment he told me of his plan, I encouraged him but asked that he leave the children."
She smiles again and looks to Hunter. "Just like humans, there are good and bad ones. Same is with vampires. He showed the world that. All of this, everyone living together is because of him."

He looked down, embarrassed, at the news of the Hunters. "Yes, I'm sorry to say I knew of that already. As I said, my family has been Hunters for generations. One of my ancestors was there. His journal was found years later, by my grandfather. It spoke of your capture, and the imposter recruit who was actually a vampire freeing her and revealing himself. Then blood. He died writing it. At Alistair's hands, from the looks of things. I put two and two together when I figured out you two were friends. It took me a while to forgive him. But I'd read the journal. I saw what the Hunters had done. They massacred Supernaturals just because they were Supernaturals. Even Alistair heard us out, and spared those who chose to be spared. Still.... It was hard."

She nods softly "We never ask for our pasts but they are part of us. Learning from those pasts is key. Yes dark things ,horrible things happened during those years as well as in the war but we have learned. We all learned. We can live together on this world, it was just a matter of getting some to see past the differences between us. A hard task to do."
A smile filled her lips as the waves suddenly calmed and the water stirred ever so silently. Soon a large soft blue and white dragon head emerged next to the ship. "Lacia old friend. You look well."
The dragon seemed to purr and lowers her massive head to gently nuzzle Sapphire.
She gently strokes the dragon then looks to Hunter. "This is Lacia. The Guardian to the oceans. She is as ancient as these waters."
The dragon bowed her head softly to Hunter before looking back to Sapphire who nods in return. "We will keep watch. Thank you old friend."
The large dragon soon disappears back into the depths as if she had never been there. "She says there is a storm rolling in soon."

"We should be there in about an hour. This is a good ship, fit for a king. And made for one. It will hold through a storm. Maybe we should get below deck, but the ship will make it to the English coast in one piece. From there, we take a few trains. We'll be in London in no time."

She smiles a little as they head below deck. "I have a lot of faith in this ship but not all storms are caused by the weather." Once below she looks to him and smiles again "I've never been on a train."

"Really? You've lived so many lifetimes and never even been on a train? That's.... A bit hard to believe. But I guess if this is your first human form, current events may not have allowed it. Well, it's nothing special. At least most people don't think so. For most of us, it's a normal thing, though. You're raised doing something, of course it seems natural."

She smiles to him,"Many years passed between my life as a dragon to my life as a human. In the US the trains were destroyed during the war plus traveling by horse was faster. In dragon for a little of things are hard to experience but I suppose the gods had their reasons for bringing me back in human form. Part of me is glad for that. I've seen much more than I ever had as a dragon. The good and the bad."
