As soon as the watchtowers' guards saw her, they sent word to King Alistair, who headed to his palace's courtyard to await her.

She landed gently in the courtyard, smiling softly as she saw Alastair. She bowed to him before changing to her human form. She had grown accustomed to switching between the forms and found it easier to be the size of those she was around when not in battle. "Hello sir."

"No need to call me 'sir.' We are friends. I will show you to your chambers, then we can eat. And tomorrow I'm giving my speech for the mortals' official freedom. I would like for you to come, stand beside me. The people would like to see one of the heroes who helped to usher in this day."

There it was again, standing in the spotlight. She hesitates a little. "You know I'm used to just staying in the back, lurking in the shadows." She smiles a bit. She could see though how much it meant to him.
She would just have to get over her discomfort of crowds and spotlights. "Alright, I will be at your side."

He smiled. "Thank you. I don't mean to cause you any discomfort. The attention won't be focused on you anyway; I'll keep their eyes on me. Now, come: I'll give you the grand tour."

She nods with appreciation to his words. A common ground.
She smiles warmly to him and nods. "Yes please. Been so curious about what a palace looks like. "

He showed her the throne room, the kitchens, the dining rooms, the living rooms. He showed her where the master bedrooms and the dungeons were. She saw the armories and the training rooms, among other parts of the castle. And she was brought to the guest rooms, including her own, where they left her. "I have preparations to make," apologized Alistair. "You may journey the castle as you wish, but please be in the main dining room in an hour for dinner."

She was amazed by the place. In all her years she had never been in a castle. It was a splendid thing and the structure drew her eyes curiously.
As they reached her guest room, she nods at his words and smiles warmly. "I will be there. "

At dinner, he made a welcoming speech for her and afterwards word was spread that the speech to the humans about interspecial peace would come early the next morning. "Sapphire," he spoke to her and his right hand in private now. "McIntyre. I want you two up bright and early tomorrow, by my side when the cameras start rolling."

"As you wish." She says to him and she would be there. She was ready to help keep this world peaceful now that the fighting was ending.
She knew eventually though she would have to face her mate and destroy him. The price of being a guardian. If he backed off and stayed in hiding though then she would leave him alone. She feared he would not though.

The next morning. He stood in front of his palace, with Sapphire at his left and McIntyre at his right, slightly in front of them both. The speech in its entirety was quite long, but the basic jist was peace and cooperation between human and Supernatural, building a better tomorrow, all that classic stuff. Toward the end, he mentioned his two allies: "....And beside me are my two fellow ambassadors to the Supernatural community. To my right is my closest associate and ally, who helped me from the beginning to fulfill my dream." "And I will continue to do so," finished McIntyre. "I will serve as General and Ambassador McIntyre, helping my people in whatever way I can. I will not stop serving my people until I give my last breath." "To my left, of course, is the person who inspired me to fight for our kind and to free us. All the good we have accomplished, we have accomplished because of her." He had told her before they came up, if she wanted to say a few words this would be the moment.

The air felt full with the warm energy as everyone had gathered to listen to their king and hear his words. It was enthralling and it was clear to tell both men were accustomed to being before the crowds.
When it was her turn to speak if she so desired, there was little hesitation in her as she nods firmly. "As Guardian to this world, I will protect and serve all the people and our king for the peace that has been fought hard for."

"Thank you for listening. You may now recreate your governments if you wish. Until then, feel free to come to me and my people whenever you need. Good day." There was a very loud applause, for all three of them, that seemed to go on forever. Alistair smiled and joined the citizens, speaking to them and mingling. McIntyre answered the reporters' questions. Sapphire had been told to do what she wanted at this point.

She answered a few questions from reporters then moved away and watched quietly. How the people interacted with Alastair and the other male amazed her. It was a good amazement and she found it soothing. This kind of thing, she thought she would never seen in all her years and yet here she stood witnessing it.
She smiles warmly and mingled with some of the people who had approached her.

And so life returned to normal. People went about their business. Alistair's men continued to watch the humans, but it was from a distance and wasn't even noticed. Governments were built, presidents elected and kings chosen, monuments rebuilt. Alistair began to regularly appear outside his castle, mainly in America and the surrounding areas due to them being nearest, but all across the world too.

As life returned to normal Sapphire had kept to herself but would go out and partol once in a while to be sure all was well but also to get out for a bit.
Her mind would wonder but she kept to her duties at all times. Every once in a while she would travel to the colony to check on them.
Everything seemed to be going well. That was what unsettled her and had her on edge. It was usually in the quiet moments that something happened.
Her concern was realized when she had gone to the river in her human form that was miles from the castle. Her mate had appeared like a cold smoke in his dragon form.
He attacked without warning, sending her crashing into the rushing water as she tried to get away from his deadly claws that raked at her body and his flames that rushed at her.

Alistair was in a meeting with the king of England, having no knowledge of what was happening.

The river took her several miles away. It took her some time but she managed to get to shore. Her wounds already in the process of healing. For the moment it would seem she had lost the male.
Her eyes flicker slightly and she changes to her dragon form, heading back to the castle.
She would have to deal with her mate. Once she reached the castle she lands and shifts back to her human form and made her way to her room so she could get out of her wet clothes.
There was peace every where. Yet this one male was going to give trouble. So far it was just to her and she would deal with it on her own. She didn't want to trouble Alastair with something like this. He was king now and was doing a great job at it. She had seen it in the people both human and supernaturals. They loved their king.

Alistair was not blind, though. He got back only shortly after her. "Is something wrong?"

She looks to him, tensing slightly. The she let's herself relax and smiled a little. Of course she couldn't hide anything from him.
Lying to him would just be foolish. Sighing she shakes her head a little. "Was out at the river. My mate decided to finally show himself."

She shakes her head slightly again. Her body had healed from the attack but she was sore.
"I am stronger than I have ever been but he is still my mate..."
She looks away then back to Alastair. "I do not think I have it in me to kill him. " She admits honestly.

"Well, I do. And whether he likes it or not, you are one of my people. He will not threaten you or any of my people without facing my wrath. If he wants a fight, I have no problem giving him one."

She gazed at him a moment, then nods slightly. "This is his first appearance since the challenge." She runs her fingers through her hair. The situation fustrated her. "I don't think he will harm anyone else."

She nods a bit at his words. What could she do though? He was still her mate despite his own betrayal to her and the fact he was trying to kill her.
Dragons mated for life. She couldn't kill him but the real question was, could she see him be killed at all. She wasn't sure she could trust herself in this.
She bows to Alastair. "I will let you know." She moves to head to her bed chambers.

She tenses at his words, she should have known she couldn't hide anything from him. She looks to him. "I can not promise that..." she says honestly.
Her eyes flicker slightly as a guard comes running to them telling Alastair of several attacks on small towns. The source of the attacks described as a single dragon.
Her heart ached. He was now attacking innocents. There was no saving him now.

"As I said. He can not harm my people. Don't let yourself be blinded. And if you can't do that, I'd suggest you stay out of this. You may end up becoming more trouble than you're worth against him. But I have to go. I'll send my people, too. We'll find him."

She leaned against the wall of the staircase. She shakes her head slightly. "He's trying to draw me out. He'll stop if I show up." She looks to Alastair. "You are right. I am blind and can not bare to watch him die but he can't continue to kill. Let me draw him out ,some where safe away from the people, then destroy him."
She starts to walk past him then stops and looks to him. "Bring your strongest fighters. After he is brought out, you will have to stop me. Chain me or knock me out if you must. But I can at least bait him away from the innocent. This is my fault, I should have dealt with him sooner."
