Sapphire shakes her head a bit. "We have no evidence of her doing anything against us so by law I can't do anything to her. To attack her unprovoked would be a clear way to start a fight. " she looks to Matthew. "I will try to not allow harm to come to her but I need to know if you will respect any decision made should she pose a threat to the people."

He looked her in the eyes. "They are my people, aren't I?" He walked off to head to the docks, knowing that he hadn't completely answered her question. Alistair looked at her. "Trust me, I know that bitch. Just coming here, it is clear that she's up to no good. This is an act of war, or something just as bad. You'll regret letting her come here."

Sapphire looks at Alistair. "Then how am I any better than the hunters that tried to kill me all those ages ago." She shakes her head.

Alistair looked like he wanted to say something, but was interrupted by Shalidor's appearance. "Sapphire's right," he told Alistair. "This way, even if your wife-" "We're not married." "-Even if your non-wife does make an attempt on our lives, we'll then have a right to kill her. And let's face it, she can't take us. That being said- Red, this should be important. What do you say we invite the rest of the Council to join us?"

Sapphire looks to Alistair, she did value his words. When Shalidor arrived she glanced to him. "Matthew has gone ahead and can greet her. Until we know her full intentions, we should leave her be and let the council continued with what they are doing. We should though at least tell them what is going on."

Shahidor nodded. "Affirmative. I'll go alert them." He disappeared.

Sapphire watched him disappear then nods to Alistair. "Make sure the council is informed. They trust your word. I need to find Lockhart." She regards Alistair a moment then added. "I know something is going on. Prepare the council. I've shielded this conversation from Shalidor."
The demon had returned to hell and had gone before Satan. He told him about Matthew's mother and her plan and the force she already had created.

"You still don't trust the man," remarked Alistair. "Will you ever learn to?"

She smiles faintly. "I made the mistake of dropping my guard and trusting him completely before. I don't like repeating mistakes, especially ones that were so costly to the people and those I care about." She sighs. "The sad part is, I want to trust him. I truly do but it is hard to trust someone who has broken that trust time and time again."

"Alright, I'll make sure. As for Lockhart, try talking to the Council of Mages. They should be able to point you the right way. Of course, Shalidor probably knows where he is already...."

She nods a bit. "Thank you Alistair." She smiles a little to him then watches as he leaves. Once he was gone to called for Shalidor.

He appeared beside her. "Yes?"

She looks to him as he appeared. "Do you know where Lockhart might be? I want to be sure all of the council is close until we are sure there is no danger." She says. She wanted to trust him. She really did. Would he betray them again? She wasn't sure any more. He had done it so often now. She kept her thoughts guarded for now.

"'Course, Red. I keep tabs on all the Council. Too dangerous out there not to. Lockhart's over at the Mages' Council's old base, you know, the one near where I lived. Thinking. Seems pretty POed at me for taking back what I created."

She shakes her head. "He worked hard to get where he was. It was suddenly taken away upon your return." She shrugs. "I do not blame him so much."

"I worked hard, too. To create it. Then I returned to find it under someone else. It is my guild, always has been, and he basically stole my position. After bringing this is into existence, I wouldn't stand for it. I took back what I made. Ask yourself, who really earned the title of Head Mage?"

She gazed at him. "Have you not yet realized that you are above being head mage? You did indeed create the guild and I'm sure your fellow mages are glad for your return but you are not just a head mage anymore."

"I am First Mage, apprentice to Lucifer himself, creator of magic. I have long mastered things most mages haven't even dreamed of. It is both my right and my duty to teach them, all who wish to follow my path. To show them talents no one else could, especially not Lockhart. I teach and lead them, it's what I do. And if you think your people should hold a higher priority for me than my own.... But I digress.I'm helping you, yes, and I love to do that, and it is very important to me.... But you must understand. These are my people, much like those out there are yours. I do only my job."

She shakes her head as she gazed at him. A smile on her lips. "I was not saying you should not teach your people or guide them. They need you for that as you said. I do appreciate all you have done to help the people." She shakes her head again and moves to step away before pausing again. "You are higher than head mage." She looks to him. "Give Lockhart a title and guide him. He is bitter now...but maybe he will understand that as the mages need you, he also needs them..." She shrugs. "I'm just a old guardian. What do I know?" She shrugs again. "I'm sure you are ready for trouble...things are far from settling."

"I'm always ready for trouble," he nodded, "and I anticipate it has just reached the docks, though she's smarter than to outright attack us, even with the large number of rebels following a bit behind. She has something up her sleeve. I could easily find out what, if you'd like, but we will soon enough anyway."

She nods a bit and tilts her head as if listening to something. "Some of the guardians are getting restless." She quietly eases them then nods to him. "Mathew will have reached her by now."

"Yeah, they're talking. Just a warning.... If it comes down to the Council and the people versus her, I'm pretty sure Matthew won't choose us. Are you prepared to do what you have to if he chooses the wrong side?"

She gazed at him quietly a moment then shakes her head. "I am never prepared to take the life of another but if that is what must be done to protect the people...then I will do what I must." She sighs. "I do not blame him though, it is his mother after all. It is hard to turn on family."

"It is also hard to change who you are. He managed that. I have trouble imagining that he won't turn on us, but.... You are a hopeful person. Try to keep hope, not just vigilance. A warrior needs vigilance. A ruler needs hope, too."

She gazed at him. "I have never lost hope. Not even in you. " she says softly then turns and heads for the door. It was that moment that she truly realized she still did hope for him, that he would indeed be good and not betray them. She truly hoped for it.

She nods at his words. "Thank you." She says then focused her gaze on the approaching pair. It was not going to be easy.
The demon had given the message to the devil before returning to the surface so that he may watch what happens. If they could simply attack now it would be better wouldn't it? Why all this waiting? It was frustrating. He wanted the guardian and her friends dead.

The devil had insisted, however, on waiting a few days. Shalidor disappeared right as Matthew and his mother entered the room. "She says she has a deal she would like to make," Matthew told Sapphire. "And that if you listen to the requests made by her and her fellow rebels, none of them will bother you again. So I would suggest we listen." Alistair walked in and he and Isabella glared at each other, but neither said anything.
