She rose back to her feet as well and eyed the king carefully. Yes she was an angel first and wasn't surprised at the sounds of marching.
Rolling her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. She kept her wings hidden. No point in provoking anything. Yet.
She starts a little when the king spoke her name. She eyes him a little again. "That is my name." She knew the male but couldn't recall if they had ever fought one another during the war. She didn't think so then again, she had been a leader general of a squadron back then before she had been bitten.

"As my informants tell me. You must understand, we are not particularly trusting of your kind. Not after the war. Especially not when they're known generals. One can not be too cautious. Now, Lucifer, it is time. have you prepared your defense?"
"I have, my lord. May I present it?"
"You may."
"I saw her first years ago, during the war. She was, as you say, a general in the angels' army. As I fought her and her allies, I bit her, and ever since thought it fatal. I believed I had delivered a major blow to our enemies. Then I went to the inn, as I occasionally do, and spotted her. It took me a few moments to realize where I recognized her from, during which time she recognized me correctly. She became hostile, but left without a fight. As I exited to report this meeting to you, I noticed her being attacked by a vampire. I knew of the rank she had had in the angelic armies and figured a vampire killing her would be seen as breaking the peace treaty with her kind, so I stopped this vampire in order to prevent another war that would surely be devastating for us. Unfortunately, this rogue vampire was killed in the process. I recognized the need to feed in her eyes, and guessed that my bite had contracted some vampiric traits. She agreed, so I gave her blood as a farewell to strengthen her against further assault. Fortunately, when your messenger found me, she had not gone so far that I could not find her again."
"Is this all true?" he addressed Angelian. "Or do you have anything to add?"

Some general she was to have been so easily forgotten and hated by her own kind. She didn't say that though as she nods to the king. "All he says is correct. I left after recognizing him as it would have triggered another war and that would be devastating to both sides and to those caught in the middle. " She shrugs a little and glances around a bit.
She was glad no one had tried to touch her. She was fine with revealing a few things to the king but any of her weaknesses, she wanted to keep as quiet as possible about.
"Most don't come to earth anymore and stay to the heavens as the treaty dictated." She adds.

"It's curious," stated the king. "That you did not stay to the heavens as dictated by the treaty. Also, Lucifer says his bite gave you certain.... Vampiric qualities. He didn't go into detail. I wonder...." His mind was racing. Lucifer glanced uneasily at Angelian. Finally, the king nodded. "Spread your wings."
Lucifer gasped. "An angel- In the Blood Palace-" He seemed genuinely stunned by this development.
"Quiet, Lucifer!" snapped the king. "Your wings. Show them to me."

Angelian tenses slightly. Did she really want to let her wings out right now? She glances around again carefully.
Then nods slightly to Lucifer. "It's okay."
Slowly and carefully, she let her wings out. They expanded to their full size at her back. The black and red feathers shining softly. She relaxes them at her back. "I'm not allowed in Heaven. Condemned by both angels and vampires."

The king smiled triumphantly. "Condemned by both angel and vampire, you say? For being a hybrid? It must not be so. It looks to me like you could be quite a powerful asset. I would gladly see you accepted as a vampire, if those angels can't recognize a blessing. The powers of both angel and vampire!"
Lucifer frowned. "My lord, I believe the advantages come with certain disadvantages. For example, when she feeds-"
The king cut him off again. "Angelian, do you not recognize me? I am the one who was always calling for peace, for an end to the bloodshed. Which I achieved only after my brothers died and left me the throne. I do not hate angels."
"My lord, she must be cured-!"
"Cured!? Of a blessing like this? Nonsense! You've gone mad!"

Her eyes flicker slightly. A blessing? Her hands clench at her sides. " I do remember you and you need to listen to him. I am not a blessing."
She pulled her sleeves back, revealing her angelic markings. "I am cursed. The war may be over for everyone else but it still goes on inside of me. Both of my halves constantly fighting. Contact is pain, feeding means blacking out after. I am no blessing. "

"But there is another way," Lucifer took his chance. "The Fountain, Chalice and Book. There could be spells to help her. Do you know where to find them?"
"Yes. That's a good point. There are spells that could change her into a pureblood vampire."
"Shouldn't it technically be her choice?"
"It is. I can leave her as a hybrid, turn her into a pureblood or kill her. It's entirely up to her."

She glared at the king now. The choices he gave her were not in favor of her at all. Being a hybrid was a warning, being pureblood would meaning turning back completely on her angel half and well death seemed to be the only thing she would be okay with.
Crossing her arms over her chest. "Glad to see your tactics in choices hasn't changed. " She shakes her head. She welcomed death but at the same time she was a fighter and to just give up wasn't in her.
"I need time to decide. "

Lucifer shifted from foot to foot. "I'll come with her-"
"No." The king's answer was so sudden, so unexpected and so impossible to refuse. "I'd like to talk to you in private. You'll stay. In the meantime, Angelian, you are a guest in my house. You will be escorted to your quarters, which I'm sure you'll find more than satisfying. Return to me when you've decided."

She was silent a moment as she regarded the king then she nods. "Then so be it." She nods to Lucifer. For a strange reason she wanted to comfort the male.

Lucifer was worried, all right. A bit of comforting may not have gone amiss. Ever since he had been turned, so long ago he couldn't even remember, he had worked his way up to become one of the most important vampires around. He had become an important noble, often asked for advice by the king himself. He had been a leader in the war and a highly trusted associate even to the previous king. And now, everything he had worked for might disappear. Just like that, in the blink of an eye! He'd never have thought it possible, after all he had done for this kingdom.
Two vampiric guards stepped in and ushered Angelian out, leading her to her room.

She looked reassuringly to Lucifer. She would make sure he was alright by the end of this.
With little choice else, she followed the guards to the room. Her mind focused and alert. She was in a palace full of vampires. Not exactly how she saw her night going but she would stay alert.
The king was right, she was powerful so long as she didn't feed and wasn't touched. She could destroy this entire palace if she decided to. For now she would wait and think.

A couple hours later, Lucifer sneaked into her room. "Whatever you do," he said before she could even react, "Do not tell the king your choice. Wait for me. I'm going to try to give you another option by finding the artifacts. Unless, of course, you want to become a pureblood vampire- Personally, it's my favorite option, but this is your decision, your life. But if I can find the artifacts, he won't be able to stop us from doing what we choose. Even if he realized in time.... He may be the strongest vampire alive, but with the artifacts, the two of us together could take him."

She blinks slightly at him. She had been standing by the window thinking. Her wings move gently as she turned to face him.
"I will wait...but you must know. I could destroy this entire place right now if I wanted." She moves away from the window and walks to a chair so she could sit down. "Your bite did give me a lot of powers. Some I don't dare unleash." She looks at him. "What the king has failed to realize was that before your bite, I killed one of those brothers during a battle." She shakes her head. "Not proud of it, just a fact."

At the mention of destroying the castle, "I would recommend avoiding that. But, I knew my bite had had its advantages. Be careful, if the king has his way, your powers will be unleashed on all who dare to threaten us. And even if it was the eldest brother that you killed, he had not had nearly as much experience as the king. His power grows by the day, and has for countless generations now. And he has the full power of the Red Artifacts, which he has surely taken advantage of to his heart's desire. He craves power, and by now I fear he would be quite impossible to beat by you alone, even with your new abilities. Even if you could, that would do us no good. We need the Red Artifacts. That is the way to free you of your curse. Now, I must hurry. We never had this conversation." And with that, he turned heel and left.

She watched him go, wondering. Yes the king had become greedy and needed to be dealt with. To have too much power ,one got to greedy and that put lives at risk.
She looks back out the window. It made her wonder what tricks would the king play to get her to decide what he wanted.

There came a loud, hard knocking on the door before the door slammed open. There was Lucifer, held up by two vampire guards, and behind him....
The king. "We found him wandering the halls toward my private corners. Any idea what he was doing?"
"I've told you, I was just getting a snack! I was headed to the kitchen."
One of the guards hit him in the ribs with unnatural strength, causing him to moan. "Shut up!"

She tenses as she hears the knock and then watched as the door was slammed open before she could say anything. Arching a brow at the sight she crosses her arms over her chest.
As the guard struck him though, she narrowed her eyes then looked to the king. "If he says he was getting a snack then that is what he was doing. He knows lying would only bring trouble and he isn't one to bring trouble."

"Exactly!" agreed Lucifer. "It's like I said, only a fool would try to deceive you. Anyone who were to do what you've accused me of would suffer greatly!"
The king scowled. "I will think on this. For now, consider yourself under house arrest." He threw Lucifer into the room before closing and locking the door.
Lucifer grinned after checking that they were gone. "Disgraceful. It's way too easy to trick the king's personal guard. I wouldn't have stepped near his chambers if I didn't want to get caught. I'd found what I was looking for, carefully hidden behind several invisible safeguards. But I was well equipped to breach them. He needs better security."
He threw a book on the bed, its cover blank but colored blood-red.

She watches them leave then looks to him. As he threw the book to the bed, she arches a brow. "Why would he keep a book that is so special so easily accessible?" She asks curiously.

Lucifer smiled slightly. "Not so. For one thing, it was not easily accessible. Simply reaching the castle interior would be unthinkable without an invitation. Then, you have to get to the library and guarantee yourself enough time alone. You can't find the hiding places without knowing exactly where to look, which I presume only me and the king do. Then, there are several security measures, as I mentioned. Nearly impossible to bypass. No one weaker than the king can. Also, some passwords- but I know the king well. And all this would be unnecessary simply by placing compotent guards in the castle. If the king knew how bad his guards were, he'd never let the book out of his sight. As it is, they didn't even search me. Not to mention the book is useless alone. We still need the Chalice and Fountain.
"But I guess I have some explaining to do.... As to how I knew where the hiding places are, how I'm powerful enough to pass the security unscathed when none weaker the king can, how I know what passwords are that the king chose.... I've been keeping a secret, I admit. Everyone, the king included, believes me to be dead. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Promise what I say next stays between us."

She had sat down again, watching him carefully. Her eyes darken a bit as he spoke. She was starting to realize who he was but it couldn't be possible. After so long? She nods slightly. "You realize I dont exactly have anyone to talk to besides you"

One of my brothers he had killed before the war, the other he sent to his death against you and your kind. That left only me, the eldest. Long before I was a noble, I was the king, the first vampire. But the current king, my younger brother, was hungry for power. He killed us and took our Artifacts and my throne. I must find them, expose and punish him, and retake my throne. And I will help you in the process. But this is a long and challenging game I'm playing, one that has gone on centuries too long."

The eldest? It would possibly explain why his bite had such a different effect on her. She was silent for a moment as she regards him then nods. "I'll help you." She moves to her feet and let's her wings stretch a moment before relaxing. It felt so amazing to finally allow them to be out. She had missed doing such and flying.
Pushing the thoughts aside, she nods to hum. "So we need to find the rest and keep the king unaware. How do you want to do this?"

"I know where the Fountain is. It was my Artifact before my brother's treachery. But I never knew the location of the Chalice. I believe I can use the book to find it. I'll need a distraction, though. I need all the guards, all of them, out of my way, if I'm to do this unnoticed. But I'll need the Palace to remain standing and at least mainly undamaged. Preferably during your audience with my brother. And he can't connect it to me. I'll find the Chalice, then get back to you. Together we can go to the Fountain and cure you. Sound like a deal?"
