After a few more hours, the front door could be heard opening, and a sleepy Juri looked to Teru nervously.

Teru rushed up to him and stopped herself just short of slapping him in the face. Using as much self-control as she could muster, she glared up at him and said vindictively, "Shino's sick. You should have been here."

She grabbed the collar of his kimono and dragged him into the main room, where she and Juri had tried to make Shino as possible as they could. Shino was still barely breathing, and her heartbeat was so slow and weak that it was difficult even for Teru's enhanced sense of hearing to pick up on it.
"Does she look fine to you?!" she whispered angrily, trying not to wake Mimi. "Does she sound fine to you?! She didn't even wake up when the children were crying for her..!"

His ears went back and he got down on his knees beside the bed. He watched Shino for a moment before burying his face in her chest and beginning to sob.

Shino stirred slightly, but remained unconscious as her body fought to get enough oxygen to her brain. Teru stepped back and tried desperately to keep herself from crying.

Mako looked up at her, tears still in his eyes. "Sh-Shino..." He leaned over her and embraced her weak body, holding onto her tightly and lovingly.
