“And the warrior got back up, One more time.” Karen took a deep breath, hoping for applause, but none came. What a dead crowd in this tavern tonight. Except for the guys who kept flicking food at her and calling out insul- OH THAT WAS IT! One of the drunken men had sneaked up and pulled her tail! Karen spun and with a yell planted a burning hand into his face. He fell back screaming. As the others rose she brandished her burning fist at them. “Just try it and I’ll burn you all dead!” she threatened them, “Now! You’ve been harassing me all night, if you’re not going to hand out a coin for a good story, then you pay for all the trouble you’ve given me up ‘till now. The lesson on your friend’s face is free. Pay up fast or—” Weeeeell fuzzlsnaps! Karen sat with her back to the stonework of the town well and glared at the lights of the tavern. There had been a town guardsman, technically off duty, but willing to intervene and calm things down by throwing her out with a warning for disturbing the peace. Munster! Munsters the whole lot of them! Just because she was a bard they thought she was something to walk all over! And probably because she was Kajjite, but she tried not to fall back on that particular victim card when things were slanted against her. Just wait until she got to the famous college of Winterhold. When she became a great mage, she would show them! She would come back and raise the tavern to the ground and pound those fools into the ground and this whole stupid town! Everything to the ground! Except maybe the kids, they were alright… and it would be cruel to pound their parents and families, she supposed. But the tavern was going down. It could go down right now. Yeah, in this Divines-forsaken weather a blazing bonfire would be magnificent. Karen imagined it up in flames as she let another burst of fire hit the cobblestones before her. It blazed for a brief eight seconds, leaving her shivering in the cold again while she waited for her magic to regenerate. She should probably go find a doorway to sleep in, or some alleyway, but right now she was too mad, still contemplating revenge. An idea struck her. She could ice the steps to the tavern door. That was a thought. She was sorely, sorely tempted. It was also safer than engaging in a head on fight. Even without the guard coming up from behind someone would have gotten past her attacks, and she didn’t know any wards. Just fire, ice, and lightning, which was more like sparks, the weakest of her three abilities. She had another ability, though whether one could call it magic was debatable. -----------------------------~*~----------- ----- --- -- - Loosely based on the video game Skyrim. You don’t have to know anything about it. It’s a medieval fantasy setting way up north in the harsh Nordic lands, so very Norse mythology ish with fierce Viking-like peoples. I may use village and city names from the game but I have bad memory so if you mention a place in the roleplay from the game, expecting me to know it instantly, I probably won’t, or I’ll think It’s a different place. I just use the names I do because I’m bad at making up my own on the spot. And darn it I like Kajjites, okay? I’m going to try to be chill and not gripe about the time space continuum, but still keep it in mind; it takes time and distance to get places and do things. Also try not to walk(or run or gallop) your character away to the point that you are removed from everyone else and now roleplaying alone, I hate to see people stuck and unable to rejoin either for a long time or not at all. It’s just sad for that person. Watch language and crudeness. I’m just happier that way. I will allow the occasional written out damn/it, I do it myself occasionally, but “She swore like a sailor” is more my speed. I’m open to pretty much any race, but if you’re uncertain, pass it by me.

((Don't worry, I don't even remember all the names of the various holds in Skyrim to begin with, this is only loosely based on it.))

Ooc: My apologies for he delay, it took quite a while having been distracted by my exams and other schoolwork stuff. I hope this is alright! It was a calm and peaceful night and Adeline hoped the tavern would be the same. She absolutely loved it when the tavern had only a few people. The surroundings would be quiet, it would often be perfect for hearing the stories of people's adventures. Books no longer satiated her longing to know more about the outside world. After all, it often had repetitive tales unlike the ones she would hear from people. It would always be new and unique, differing one way or another. Being the only daughter of the powerful and prominent Weiss family, she was treated like a fragile bird. While she was placed in a beautiful cage with everything anyone could ever hope to have, it was still a cage nonetheless. Unlike how she is with her family, she wore the plainest and least grand looking clothes she had underneath her midnight blue cloak. Her family was known for mages and she knew her two older brothers would end up becoming such. While she was educated like them in magic. Each of them specialized in certain elements, hers being light and water. Two elements which control reflection and she can use to show imagery, fitting for someone who dreamed of finding new things and exploring the unknown. Her brothers would become mages while she would be sent away to be married. But before that she would like to explore the world first! She just needed to find someone to go with her. She wasn't naive enough to think that she could go on an adventure all alone. So before then, she would be satisfied with just hearing stories from others. Fortunate for her, while the rowdy crowd of the tavern was not to her liking, she managed to hear the end of a bard's tale. 'What a fascinating tale!' Her blue eyes sparkled with interest like a child seeing their favorite candy. Sadly, she wasn't able to ask about the rest since the bard was kicked out. 'What a rude crowd.' Naturally, having just secretly left her home for the night like all the other times she left, she wanted to avoid any authorities as much as she could. However, that didn't mean she wouldn't seek out the other. She immediately slipped out once the commotion settled down and she was sure the guard was gone. It took some time but she finally found the one who spoke in the tavern. "Hello!" She greeted albeit a bit shyly, putting down the hood of her midnight blue cloak, "Your tale in the tavern piqued my interest, would you mind if I asked to heart the rest of it?" She asked with a smile and badly hidden excitement in her tone. Then it dawned on her that she was a random stranger. After all, not many knew of her considering she barely left her home during daylight. Many knew the Weiss family had a daughter but few knew how she looked like. It was an advantage for her because she was more free to explore without others pointing out who she is. "Dear me, I completely forgot to introduce myself! My name's El, may I ask for your name?" She tried not to be too formal in speaking but sometimes it was inevitable considering it was how she was raised. Honestly, she wasn't all that well versed in socializing in the first place.

((Sooooo sorry. I'm so used to this place being dead I forgot to check in))
Karen paused, a hand raised, ready to cast a fireball on the stones again. She consider following through and scaring the girl off. She was certainly mad enough to take her frustration out on a random passerby.
But she relented, "Er... I'm... Karen..." she said guardedly, standing and dusting her cold backside off. She eyed the girl before her, noticing the plain but well tailored clothing. She remembered her from the tavern, one of the only people listening with any interest to Karen's tales.
"Er.. the story itself ends there... for now..." she continued awkwardly, "I uh... made it up based on my friend... He gets beat down a lot, but he always gets back up to continue the good fight. He's a real shmuck for defending the weak and holding onto his good principles no matter what. I consider him a real hero, even if I think he should bend a little sometimes. Mind you, I embellished the story to also be a metaphor for humanity's fight against the darkness. Until the world ends, if it even does, the story goes on and people like my friend, who never give ground, never compromise, fight on and on, rising up each generation... and so on, one more time.
"He also never fought an actual demon king, and usually he doesn't get up so many times in quick succession. Usually broken bones keep him down a few months. But like I said, embellishments." she added with a grin. She was feeling considerably better seeing this girl had liked her personal song enough to ask for more.
Ha, take that bard college. Stick to the classics indeed!
