"And how's this girl going to aid you in that? Are you even having any luck?" Mari asked still being a little coy with him. She took another drink of the wine bringing her glass close to empty.

"No luck at all, but mother is certain I'm just not trying enough" he said with an eye roll

"Is it something you want to do yourself or are you only doing it because that's what your parents want?" She smiled, she was finally getting somewhere to find out what type of person Luca actually is.

"Oh, I'm not actually doing anything, it's more of a joke between the two of us, I ask her to marry me and she says no and I pretend to be heartbroken."

"So both of you feel the same for each other? Stop me if I start to pry too much." She asked with her curiosity peaking more and more.

"She loves another, that's why our arranged marriage never happened... It's a very complicated matter."

"Doesn't sound too complicated, sounds like old fashioned parents not understanding that their kids want to marry for live and not status." Mari said sounding like she knew from experience.

"In reality our parents are really quite gracious, typical royal families would not think so carefully as ours do when it comes to our fate. I'm the fourth son in my family, so I am nothing, however the King and Queen themselves chose me to hand their daughter over to, because I was the closest to her. That in itself caused a lot of drama within my real but her refusing my hand caused even more." He looked across her at the far wall, thinking, "I don't think you could really understand fully just how much trouble that single woman has caused," he grinned at that thought as if it were a private joke.

"Well I'm sorry to hear that, she must not realize the catch she released." Mari said now working on her second glass of wine.

"We were friends, nothing more really. The man she actually married was much better suited." He took more sips from his own glass.

"I'm glad there's peace in that matter for now, where does that put you at? Are you going to be with whoever you want or do you have another arranged marriage as a back up?" Mari said as she really began to study the man.

He chuckled at her many questions "the moment I find myself a mate is the moment my mother dies of a heart attack for she will have to finally have to believe my planned one won't work." He paused, thinking "plus I've never really found anyone I truly care for..."

"But really we don't need to focus on me all evening, what of yourself, where are you from?"

"Me? I'm nothing special, typical song and dance for me. Parents divorced when I was 10 and I lived with my dad who developed a drinking problem. I took care of him for years even though he'd beat the shit out of me sometimes just because I looked like my mom.. well kidney failure kicked in and he started slowly dying until two years ago he passed away. I moved in with my mom and her sister in a little house by on the back roads where they my moms mostly gone away on business. I don't get along with my aunt so I avoid being home, over all, life's boring." She shrugged after giving her life story in like five minutes.

He frowned at that "that hardly sounds boring..."

"It's not an uncommon life, there are plenty of people who have endured the same if not worse. Mine is the typical sob story. There's nothing interesting about me. That's why I like to read fantasy and watch movies about superheros." She said looking down at her hands while she fidgeted with her thumbs.

"Well I'm not too versed in the hero aspect but fiction does catch my eye somewhat..."

"Oh? And which type interest you might I ask? My favorite book is actually Bram Stokers Dracula." Mari exclaimed. She found herself getting a little excited when talking about books.

"Really? That's a very unusual choice for a lady..." He says, "I too quite enjoy the books and stories written about vampires... They're quite amusing."

"I couldn't imagine living forever. I feel like it would get lonely and boring. It would make a person cold and distant from others for sure." Mari said pouring another glass of wine.
(I hope you know, she's gonna be drunk by the end of the night. Like passing out drunk. But because it's wine is a very clear drunk, word slurring and sickness isn't usually a symptom, you don't feel it until you stand. Lol)

"When it's all you know I'm sure it's not too terrible, as long as you don't sparkle for gods sake."

Mari burst into laughter at the twilight joke. "I'm pretty sure they were pixies who wish they were as cool as vampires." She said drinking more wine, Mari didn't drink often so she was starting to feel it a little. "So Luca, you're a big shot in Italy, you like vampires, you were supposed to be in an arranged marriage but that got call off due to her loving another, and you like to try and impress girls with lots and lots of food, what else should I know?" She asked playfully.

He thought for a moment "I think you're the first human with whom I've actually enjoyed talking with" he knew she was becoming drunk and probably would not remember his words anyways "I'm also going to have to resists the idea of killing you during every moment that we are together..." He said, meaning for it to sound more playful than it actually came out as.

"Little ole me? You wouldn't hurt me, I can see it in your eyes, you're to intrigued with my weirdly simple was." She giggled. Then she pause and let his words sink in. She stood up from the table and walked over to Luca. "Infact, I think you should dance with me to let me prove to you that you've already grown attached of my simplicity in your hectic life that you couldn't lay a finger on me." Mari said a bit more cocky and challenging then she would be able to sober.

At the moment, for a split second, almost undetectably his face changed. His bright red eyes changed into completely black voids, but then went back to normal so quickly she couldn't be sure she had actually seen it "I really don't dance much..." He said, suddenly shy

Mari looked around the room until she spotted a record player. She walked over to it and turned it and placed the needle on the record. A soft Melody began to flow from the old thing. She turned around walked back over to Luca and reached her hand out for him to take. "Just one dance?" She smiled. Mari was a fearless girl when given a little liquid encouragement.

His face, which had been confident all night, now almost seemed to show... Fear. "I really don't think I should..." He tries to refuse but stands up with her pulling his hand anyways.

Mari smiled at the fact she got him to dance with her. "See, it's not so bad." She practically giggled as she moved in close and began to lead the steps in a small waltz. "I haven't danced in years so I'm not very good either." She said softly as she watched her feet.

He continued with her, pretty quickly taking the lead "I didn't say I was bad, I said I don't do it"

While they danced he seemed tense, trying not to crowd her too closely nor become too casual with the movements

Mari let him start to lead but with his tenseness came a fast tempo in steps causing Mari to stumbled and fall into Luca. "I-I'm sorry, I told you I was a little rusty." She said blushing as she tried to steady herself up again.

"It's okay, I should slow down..." He helped her back up and started again at an easier pace, slightly less tense this time.
