Wasn't sure if I was going to be sick or not last night so I went to bed early. Friday's are busy and I wanted to start the day out right. Sleeping is a wonderful thing and it cures most ailments except when you roll out the wrong side of the bed. From there on out you have to live with the day.
First of all it was best I slept in a couple of nights. Didn't keep waking up in the middle of the night. Got up in the morning and it was going to be tight getting ready to head out the door. Being non traditional student is tough when your working too. Close almost every night at my work so its late nights and early mornings at school. Decided that since it takes a while to find a parking spot at school I would ride my bike. Keep in mind that I have a tendency to be fast and furious. Like to drive my car fast and bikes too. Just as fast as what is considered legal.
Get onto the road. That's fine, there's a biking lane. However I will be buying a helmet to wear in the future. Got to the school grounds just dandy. Started down the hill to the Liberal Arts building. Nearing the end of the hill I started to try and put on the brakes.
Unfortunately it slipped my mind that wet grass really sucks to try stopping on. So instead of slowing down my bike went out of the control and Whumph! I tried to catch myself with a leg and it gave out too. I was still going at a pretty good speed. Missed a tree. (That was good) Then to end it I landed on my elbow and jerked my shoulder out a bit all the while still sliding across the lawn with my bike. Going to see how I feel in the morning.
At any rate I had my little rant there in the school lawn. Scrambled to my feet and didn't really think to see if anyone was watching. Ripped the bike off the ground and... "Crap! This isn't how I wanted to start my morning." We could say the day got a little better but didn't quite go well. I stomped my bike the rest of the way to the bike rack and ran up the 3 flights of steps to my class. Turned out I was a few minutes late anyway. My shoulder started hurting by then and it still hurts. Forgot to change my pants before work so I showed up with grass stains and looking like I mowed a lawn or got smeared on one. So icy hot on the shoulder tonight before bed and maybe the doctor tomorrow. That isn't how I wanted to start my weekend. We'll see how it turns out though.
By the way there wasn't anyone close enough to see the mini wreck and my minor expletive. Probably a good thing. Since we all enjoy laughing at the misfortunes of others feel free to tell a bad story about your week. It'll make me feel better if nothing else. Haha. Anyway enjoy the weekend everyone!

At least grass is softer to land on than tarmac. I had an accident while doing a charity bike ride two years ago (London to Brighton - 54 miles of cycling!), made contact with my dad's bike about half way. Got a cut and bruised right knee and little right pinky finger (which had to be in a sling) and a few other cuts and bruises here and there, was limping for a while. I was taken to the hospital as the paramedics and people at the first aid station along the route were a little worried that I might have broken my finger, but I was incredibly lucky and hadn't.)I am also grateful that this was not the first time I had participated in the London to Brighton bike ride. I had entered the year before and managed to make it to Brighton without any injury in 2012. It was kinda fun having a ride in an ambulance. But never again am I entering that bike ride.... far too many cyclist in it that clog the roads up too much and you can't really get into cycling until your almost at Brighton! too much stopping and starting. Still have scars on my knee and finger.
But I hope your shoulder is alright (fingers crossed for you.) Was your bike damaged at all?

No the bike is all good. I have a very sturdy bike. Shoulder is still sore and I'm kinked up all the way into my neck. Not surprising since I was in a car accident some years ago and hurt my neck then. However I do feel some better than last night. Going to see how it feels over the next few days before I take myself in to the doctor. Don't like going to a doctor unless I have to.

Been having an allergy attack where my eye get's irritated and swelled. It happened once at my friend's new apartment and I thought it was a coincidence because I had been there once before and nothing happened. So I went there again a few days later and my eye acted up again. Both times I had to be driven home. Turns out her walls and rugs were quite dusty and a little moldy. Both of which I'm highly allergic to.
Yesterday was so cold and our heating wasn't working so I got an electric blanket out and sat with it for some time. Because it was dusty and musty it also irritated my eye, which was a real problem because I was home alone with my 18 year old autistic brother. Doors were padlocked but if he really wanted he could find away to get out and run off, or create general mayhem in the house. Fortunately I figured out it was the blanket and took it away but I couldn't go to see "Mary Poppins" at our local theater with my brother and friend like we had planned. XP Need to talk to my specialist about this because I haven't had so many eye irritations at once for nearly 10 years.
Couple weeks ago I went to a weekend con and had such a bad allergy attack that I stumbled around feeling like a giant germ and i thought I had a cold, I actually bought one of those cloth surgical masks and wore it to keep from coughing on people.
So yeah, not nearly as bad as biking accidents. I never got hugely into biking, was always more of a roller skater, sadly there's nowhere to roller skate out here in the boonies. Or ice skate, XP Darn small towns.
Did have a medication problem that was giving me serious anxiety attacks that I thought were really bad asthma attacks. I couldn't do anything as simple as go to church without an attack hounding me if I got a little worried about the time. Fortunately I'm off that now. Oh yes, it was also making me wake up very easily. I have enough trouble with insomnia as is but this thing was making me dream so vividly that I would wake up slamming my fist into the wall, or I'd wake up trying to shout something.
Very unpleasant experience.

Awe...I'd take my sore shoulder and biking accident any day. Never had allergy problems but that sounds to be horrible. As for roller blading you can totally do that in a rural town. Don't need any rink to get it done. Just hit the side walks and roads. That's what I'd do and the worst that can happen is wreck. Lol.

Problem is there are no sidewalks where I'm at, and the roads out in the country are all full of holes and gravel. The road working companies seem to think filling a pothole with gravel counts as fixing it. A parking lot might work though, on a Sunday evening. Gotta get new skates though some time, my old ones probably don't fit any more at this point. And they're likely full of spider eggs since they've been sitting out in the garage for lord knows how long.
There actually is a nice paved trail I like to go on that was once a train track. Problem is no one else likes to skate so it's boring to go there by myself.*Cough cough* also super lazy*cough.*
Allergies are tough indeed. At first I thought I was allergic to a few things likes cats and dust mites, then I got a full test and it was cats, dogs, and basically everything outdoors. I mean, even grass seed. Fortunately I've been having Allergin shots for the past eight years so my cats only some times give me a small reaction. Maybe every ten times they're on my lap I get sneezy or my eye itches. I don't think the family dog has caused me trouble in years. Had to give my other one away though because she shed fur and dander like crazy. She was also a very bad dog. She was forever getting skunked, attacking bikers and bigger dogs(Small dog complex) and tangling with the wildlife. She actually dug up a skunk one winter and got sprayed. Everyone except me was happy to see her go.
Ah well. I feel like the house is empty with just a small dog and two outdoor cats who are not allowed inside except in the worst winter condition. >___> Mom's adamant about it because they use the laundry basket as a litterbox. DX Plus they can barely stand each other. I have a friend who's cats get along great and I can't figure out why.
