I want to start an RP that takes place in the midst of a battle. The catch is you don't know what the two sides(Or maybe more) are fighting for, instead you must drop your character in the middle of the fighting and decide as you write whether you are on the same side as any of the other roleplayers or not.
I think it would make for an interesting exercise for people to team up or fight each other and make up what their character is fighting for. Are they part of a rebel alliance, A revolution? I think it would be neat to see it unfold as players try to pick up on each other's information to piece together why they are there. Maybe some of them even know eachother personally.
I've done a similar "Noodle incident" method where I and another player had two characters who we decided had known each other a long time. It was great fun when he would mention something my character did, and then I would put a spin on it when she retells it from her point of view. There's still much mystery to their made up past, but it lends a certain element of magic to the roleplay.
Thoughts? I keep trying to start the battle scene but I have no inspiration so I get out a line or two, and then delete it because I can't seem to get a vision in my head of what I want. I think my main problem is I can't decide what sort of person my character is, or what s/he looks like. XP

Sounds like fun but I wouldn't put it as a group role plays. If it went to a group it would turn into a mess. Then again I always think that anything group role play is messy. Lol

This could also go very well with the right Roleplayers. Never done that method before, and it seems really interesting.

I'd like to try because I'm a little tired of the usual intros where no character really knows each other and therefore they must introduce themselves before the plot can really get going. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a person who needs constant action, I like quieter moments in roleplay as well, but lately I've been in the mood for something a little different.

This sounds like FUN !! We just run the risk of everyone accidentally ending up on the same side but I'm game

@ Logany
True in that. I could perhaps make a slightly more detailed scene like a surprise attack on a scouting party instead of a giant battle field. Perhaps a few other small details like a list of races on each side so people will choose according to that preference.
I'm a little strapped for ideas and creativity at the moment as I'm trying to come up with an intro for another RP currently. But I hope in time this can happen.
