“ It was October 9th 2048, I was off to work while my boyfriend stayed home. It was about 7;30 am and the highway was empty NO BIG DEAL I thought, I saw people just walking in the highway MAYBE I SHOULD JUST GO HOME, I turned my car around and drove home. I parked my car and as soon as I got out I heard a man screaming, I ran into the house and I saw a chunk of his arm missing I looked over and I saw my best friend eating his chunk of arm.”
“ I screamed and she came running towards me, I ran into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and she tried to bite me i did not know what to do so i stabbed her in the head…..I…..I didn’t want to get hurt……...I…...I….didn’t know what to do”
“That’s okay Alice just tell the rest of the story.”
“ I will try….I stabbed her and I ran to my boyfriend he told me to kill him i couldn’t I did not want to lose him too then he told me that if I don't kill him, he will turn into what my best friend was and try to hurt me. So I grabbed the knife I had just used to kill my best friend and stabbed him in the head. I slowly dropped to the floor but a gun was pointed at my head.
“ Have you been bitten?”
“Bitten?’
“ Just answer the question before I blow your brains out”
“No I have not been bitten.”
“ Mind if I check?”
“Whatever”
He checked my arms and neck.
“What are these things?”
“ Zombies”
“Oh I thought it was just a sickness can’t there be a solution to this zombie you are talking about?”
“ They haven’t found one yet but the only way to kill them is to aim for the head.”
“ WHY ON EARTH WOULD I WANT TO KILL THEM?!”
“ Cause if you don’t kill them, they will kill you. Now lets go.”
“ I don’t even know your name!?”
“ My name is Tyler. Now lets get out of here before those things rip us to shreds!”
I followed him because I didn’t have anywhere else to go.”
“ He took me to his camp which was a abounded supply store with boarded up windows, there was a whole lot of food it could last a person months but he only lived here.
“ I hope I’m not messing up your living habits”
“No, besides company will be nice.”
I smile at him “ Alice”
“ What?”
“ My name,.... Alice.”
“Hmmm Alice is a pretty name. We will get you some clothes from next door that place is abounded too thanks to me, I will make your bed and there is no showers... I know right it sucks.”
“The clothing store was filled with clothes I picked up the duffel bag Tyler gave me and filled it then, we went back to camp with no problems at all. WOW THIS IS SO NICE BUT…...HOW LONG WILL IT STAY LIKE THIS THOUGH? I thought it was true wasn't it? Once we got inside I set the duffle bag down and sat next to Tyler.
“Thank you.” I tried to hug him but he pushed me away.
“ I’m not a hugger,”
“ Ahh… I’m hungry can I have something to eat ?’’
“ Yeah I could eat too...Keep a look out for zombies okay?”
Tyler came back with rice and green beans.
“ Sorry I don't want a big feast we need to save our food.”
“ Thats okay, I’m going to go lay down for a little bit okay?”
“ Yeah, you have had a rough day.”
“Thank you” I tried to hold back the tears for as long as I could.”
“ I layed down on the floor and started to cry...Loud so loud that Tyler came running to me just to make me stay quite. He hugged me tightly in his arms and said
“ Shh it’s okay, this is how I reacted to you are going to be fine. It will pass this whole thing will pass, we just got to be smarter than the average Zombie. I'm sure I can do that… I don’t know about you, but don’t worry I will protect you I promise you that much. you just gotta trust me do you trust me Alice?”
“ I didn’t trust him but I had no one to trust right now so I guess I had to.
“Yes I trust you Tyler.I don’t know why I do I just do”
“ Good that is amazing, now all you have to do is to kill the zombies.”
“ I have already killed two and I cried about it, I can not kill more people they are not zombies they are real people that are sick!” I started to cry more, Tyler hugged me tighter.
“Shhh its okay you don’t have to kill anyone okay? I will do all the work all you have to do is try and not get hurt.”
“But you will protect me so I won’t get hurt right?”
“ I can never promise you that, I think you already know this.But don't think I wont die to save you because I will…...If anyone is going to die in this fight against zom…..people then its going to be me...Don't even argue with me on this.”
I didn’t argue with him….I kissed him.”
“Why did you kiss him Alice?”
“ Because he was saying those things and it was in the moment.”
“Tyler would like to talk to you.”
“He is here?!?! Please let me see him I have told you enough today just let me see him…”
“Why are you so happy to see him?”
“Because when we were out there in front of death every single day, he was protecting me and I…….I love him”
“What is love Alice?”
“ I don’t know but I do know that I love him so please umm I dont know ur name….”
“ Agent Pratt”
“ Agent Pratt please I am begging you, Haven't you ever loved someone before?”
“You may see him for the rest of the night but tomorrow morning be here and tell us the rest of your story.”
“I will Agent Pratt thank you, thank you so much.”
“Good morning Alice.”
“This morning is not every good at all.”
“Oh lets get right into it today shall we?”
“I am not telling you anything”
“Why not Alice?”
“For what you did to Tyler”
“So we locked him up we thought he was infected.”
“You locked me up too and you knew I wasn't infected and after I tell you this you are going to wipe my brain you know how I know this? Cause you did this to Tyler he did not recognize me at all he knew my name cause you told him my name didnt you?! Of course you did, You know I was going to tell you every little thing down to the nub but now I can’t even look you in the eye for what you did!”
Another agent walks into the room.
“ What the hell is going on here Agent Pratt?!”
“Nothing Agent Stone, Alice is just off her meds she needs to get back on them immediately.She needs to be drugged and put back into her cell ASAP. ”
“ What are you talking about Agent Pratt she is fine besides you haven’t been out there with those god forsaking things called zombies she has, I have its like nothing else in the world to be out in that world you would not have last a day out there because you have no skill set to survive! You just sit here all day and you are protected by these walls and the guards, if you were out there all by yourself with no weapon having to survive ”
“ I WILL SURVIVE“
“....What the hell ?!”
“ I’m getting out of this place and I don’t care if I die... I just want to get away from this hell hole”
“I’m going with you we are leaving”
“ What does that mean?”
“It means that we don't want to stay here anymore so we are leaving, now you can let us leave nicely or Alice can chop off your head ”
“ She can’t do that she doesn't have her sword”
“ Oh yes I can, and I will because I do have my sword Agent Stone gave me it and, I will do whatever it takes to get out of here I would rather get bit and turn into a zombie then to stay here with you Agent Pratt.”
“Fine you can leave I don’t care, I can replace you in a millisecond you don't mean anything to me and you Agent Stone there are thousands of agents that would love to be working for me so I don't care if you go, I don't care if the boy goes because he doesn't remember a thing so he has no use to me anymore and do you really think he will last a day out there? Come on Alice be realistic, I know you realize this to but your “love” for him is to strong”
“You really don't know what love is do you Agent Pratt? Love isnt about if someone is strong or willing to fight, Love is that you are willing to fight for those that you love and trust me Agent you will never know how that feels you know why? Because you will never learn how to love anyone but yourself I know this is mean to say but it is true Agent, you don't care about what other people emotions are, take Tyler for example you wiped his brain without a thought of how he might feel or the person he cares about might feel. Thats why I don't care if I die because if I die with him I know that I lived a full life that I lived my last moments with the person I love isnt that what matters? Now if you don't mind me and Agent Stone-”

“Ashley and I are going to get Tyler and get out of here, my advice for you Agent Pratt learn how to love someone other than yourself “
