This is a book I've been working on and looking for feedback. Has to be posted in two threads and the second well be called Savadruk cont.
Chapter 1:
Rude Meeting
A girl with deep blue eyes and long silver hair opens the cabin door, setting a wooden staff down on the makeshift table. She lets out a long sigh as she looked around the room: a bed of straw in the far left corner, a makeshift table to her left made of stacks of books for the legs and a piece of wood for the top, next to it was an unsteady chair, shelves in the far right corner, a few radishes in a straw bowl on the second shelf and a wooden bowl, fork, and spoon on the shelf above it. She walks over to her bed, loosening the rope around her waist that holds a blue ragged dress from falling off. Sitting on the bed, she kicks her shoes off, pushing them under her bed with her feet and removing the rope completely setting it on the floor beside the bed. Laying down followed by another sigh as she drifts to sleep.
***
A ship with black sails that looked a little worn and torn sat at the docks. Its wood looking like it was barely holding together. At the bow of the ship a skeleton was seen tied by rope, when it was carved into the ships wood with that much detail. Its eyes were flames that seemed to never blow out even though the wind was pretty heavy and at a good contstant paste. The skeleton was holding what looked like a crystal ball and it appeared as though it were screaming in pain. On deck there were men shuffling about doing their daily duties as he walked out of the captains quarters wearing a dark green cloak wrapped around his body. His brown leather boots hitting the wooden floor with a thud, eyes glowing red as he went to the helm of the ship. Once there a crewman came up to him and said in a low voice, ?She has been found capin,? the captain looked at the man with a smile from the helm. He wore the typical pirate out-fit.Shin high brown leather boots and loose black material pants. Tucked into the pants was a loose white shirt which hung on him loosely with a jacket that went down to the back of his ankles and hung around him. His sword and old saber hanging on his worn leather belt along next to his compass. He had dreads with beads on some of them. His patch of facial hair braded on his chin with beads on them as well. Nodding he said, ?Good, let?s get her.? Jumping off the helm onto the deck he followed his crewman and smiled.
The sun?s setting rays beamed through the girls hut, located farthest in the village from the castle. She rubbed her eyes sleepily before sitting up. Standing up, she grabbed the rope and tied it around her ragged dress then fished for her shoes that resided under the bed and put them on. Walking to the shelves glancing it over then turned her back to it and towards the table taking her staff and leaving the worn down hut. She looks up at the sky, nightfall had laid its blanket across the sky, then turned to her left and headed for the woods. After several moments of walking she came to an open field. Going to the center she would take a fighting stance and begin practicing.
He was not that far from her little cabin as he picked up speed when he heard her start to walk away. His cloak flying behind him showing his slender and sleek muscular body. He stalked her like a tiger would its prey, not making a sound. When he saw her start to practice he smiled and chuckled as it echoed through the forest and open field like the wind rustling the grass. He spoke in a dark, deep, and husky voice ?You have been found and will not be let go. You are surrounded by creatures of the dark. Do not run. We have a favor to ask of you.? Stepping out into the dark night and taking his hood off. His face pale and he smiled revealing a set of very sharp teeth, his long black hair fell around his shoulders.
She stopped looking over at the man. ?What took you so long to show?? she said, stepping out of stance and facing him. ?Are you unable to come in the light? I sensed you here shortly after the sun hit the horizon, those eyes in a dim light can be quite noticeable.? She said, her voice calm.
He smiled again. ?Well you would not understand. I am a Death Deceiver and we can not change the fact that our eyes glow. I have a proposal for you. I need your services and would like for you to join me. As long as you don?t mind traveling by ship at night.? His creatures not moving and not noticeable in the shadows. ?I am offering you a life many have failed to live because they were stupid to notice a great opportunity? his eyes staring at her. His face relaxed and his body laid in a stance of relaxation as well and his hand laid upon the hilt of his sabor.
The girl glanced around the area, ?I take it,? her eyes looked at the man, ?you are alone?? She relaxed and he shoulders less tense. ?Where is it you plan to travel to??
He shook his head. ?No I am not alone.? He snapped his fingers and smiled as creatures came out of the darkness. Black energy waving from them as they materialized from the shadows. Their bodies disfigured and hands sharp black blades on each and every one of them and the stench they had was very foul. They made no sound moving. ??o you recall me saying you were sqsurrounded? And I plan on traveling to Oaksiam to deliver a package. Will you help me or do I have to kill you like the others.? He said as he flinched a little saying it. His creatures stirred a bit as the awaited her reply.
She looked at the creatures, looking at what she?d have to fight if she refused. Turning her attention back to the man, she lifted an eyebrow to him, ?A package? Must be pretty damn important if your asking for help to deliver it.? She said, followed by a sigh. ?Fine, I?ll help?but,? she paused, ?what?s in it for me??He looked at his men as he answered, ?Your life.?
She laughed, ?What life! I live in a shit hole with no food! What makes you think that threatening me with my life would matter to me, honestly.? She said starring at the man with a serious face.
?Would you rather be dead or alive with no food?? he chuckled, she began to open her mouth before he cut her off, ??on?t answer that. But if you are coming then get what you need and meet me back here in 10 minutes.? He said, crossing his arms as the creatures with foul odors started disappearing one by one back into the shadows that the trees had created in the moon light from where they came. ?And,? he said taking a knife, walking to her he placed the sharp part of the blade against his palm and sliced in one fluid motion. Once he was in front of her he handed her the knife and held his hand out for a shake, ?so that you don?t run, do what I have done and shake my hand so that I know you are bound to this quest.?
She eye bawled the knife before taking it. Slicing the palm of her hand, she took his hand in hers,
?There, happy? Now, let?s go.? She said bluntly to the man.
He looked at her and smiled, not letting go, as their hands were lit up by what looked like electricity, the wind picking up around then and their hands were locked together. His hair and cloack flying as the wind did pick up and its slowly started to die down. After the wind had died down and the light vanished and he let go of her hand and there was a scar on her hand where she had cut, but not on his. ?You have been marked and that will not leave your hand until you have completed your task? he said and smiled. Pulling his hood over his head so that the girl could only see his eyes and he turned around, ?Then, Lets go.?
She looked down at her hand then dropped it, letting her arm swing down, ?Your name!?? she shouted out to him, not following him as of yet, standing straight up, the staff lifted off the ground slightly.
He chuckled and didn?t turn around, ?Kirami, my name does not matter. All that matters is that you follow and watch out for my back as I will do the same for you.? As he started off into the forest.
Kirami started to pout, ?Oi! How do you know my name!?? She shouted out, running to catch up with him.
Chapter 2:
Trickery
He smiled, his pearly white teeth showing. ?That does not matter.? His cloak flowing in the wind as it started to get cold, closing his eyes as he embraced the cold and smiled then his face went straight and he sighed and continued to walk. ?Now your job is to keep and make sure that this is not harmed.? He handed her a small package that could fit in a pocket. ?And no looking in it either.?
Kirami raised an eyebrow at the package. ?What is it?? she asked, ?And where do I put it? I have no pockets.? She said, gesturing to her dress.
He smiled and looked at her. ??o not look at it ok?? he said in annoyance, tossing her a backpack as it had a few other items in it as well. ?You can store it in there for now, and that is yours to keep. Just don?t lose it, alright?? He said as his footsteps made no sounds as he walked, almost as if he were floating. ?You know you are very nosey.?
She puts the item in the bag then closes it tight before pulling it on her back. ?I?ll continue to be nosey till I know details. Mind filling me in?? she said, walking beside him.
He shook his head ?I do mind.? Looking at her and sighing, ?You will know soon enough what you-? he stopped, looking up in sudden dismay. He looked at her and whispered. ?Hide.? And he was gone in a blur. His shape hidden in the shadows of a tree, his body now nothing but solid black, as if he were a shadow, or a part of the tree's shadow.
She was about to protest before he vanished. Her expression became blank as she jumped up into a tree that had a hole and quickly removed the bag, stuffing it in there and mumbled a few words, cloaking it, no one but her will sense it now. She turned her attention to the paths below, listening for intrusion.
He sighed watching her with a straight face get surrounded by the kings? men. He did not move as he was invisible. They surrounded her with 6 men and they all wore the same thing: shiny knights armor with the kinds colors, purple and yellow. One spoke to her with haste and urgent ?Where is he?! We know you know. He will be beheaded by what he has done. Tell us now or you will suffer the same fate!?
She sighed and jumped down out of the tree, ??amn, he tricked me?? she mumbled, ?He took off that way. He told me to hide while he took care of an intrusion coming from the east. And of course, I believed him and took cover while he fled.? She said, one hand on her hip, her other pointing to her left, her facial expression serious.
They bought what she said and rode off. He watched them as they rode off and smiled as his shadow slipped and slivered down the tree. He sighed as his body came up from the ground up and became noticeable again, looking at her. ?Ye are kind to me. And I thank you. But we have to keep moving.? As he stepped one foot in front of the other, his boots not making a sound as he walked.
She nods to him then grins, ?Now you owe me one.? She said before jumping back up in the tree and waving her hand over the hole revealing the bag. She grabs it and pulls it on, jumping back down she hurries alongside the male.
?Ok and here is what I owe you. I now have creatures that are mine. I?m a pirate. I am a captain. You are now what I need to carry that package.? He said looking straight ahead with serious written all over his face.
?Why do you need me to carry the package?? she asked quietly as they walked briskly through the woods.
?Because only you can touch it when it comes time to open it. Do not ask for what it is because I cannot tell you until you open it. We need to get to the ship before they catch on that I am not going that way? he said, picking up speed.
?Then lets pick up speed!? she said enthusiastically as she started to run progressing her speed to match his, a smirk on her face.
He smirked ?You think you can keep up?? He said as he kept gaining speed.
Her smirk got bigger, ?Only one way to find out.? She said, leaning forward into the run and picking up more and more speed, keeping close to perfect pace with the male.
He smiled as his form went blurry and he disappeared.
She frowned, going top speed now. ?That?s cheating!? She called out to him.
He started running up behind her and looked at his wrist as if a watch were on it. ?Well I can?t help it, you?re slow.? As they came to the docks he shouted at the ship. ?All hands on deck!!!?
She growled at him for the tease. Approaching the water at the end of the dock, she jumped up and onto the deck, ?nice ship? she said, looking about the ship.
He didn?t hear her as he was coming aboard, shouting orders. As they started to leave the shore an arrow came up and hit him in his left shoulder. He screamed before shouting ?Ready the guns!? as men started to run about on deck.
Chapter 3:
Hungry?
She looked back to the dock, a man with a captain?s hat on, holding a bow. She grinned at him before she took a gun from one of the crewmen and aimed it at his forehead. Pulling the trigger, a guard intercepted the bullet and fell into the water. She growled again and tossed the gun aside, ready to jump back onto the dock and come down on him with her makeshift sword, the long wooden staff.
??on?t do it.? He said to her. ?Ready!? he shouted at his crew ripping the arrow out of his shoulder with a grunt as they loaded the guns. He smiled ?Take your aim at the dock!!!? as he shouted, the men turned each cannon and the guards started to flake on holding their ground. ?FIRE!? As the guns went off, the men each getting hit and finally the captain guard with the bow, the cannon ball went flying at a fast speed to the point you couldn't even see it as it cleanly took off his head, blood squirting from the now open neck as the body fell to the dock in a pool of crimson water, as they finally left port Royial.
She crossed her arms in a pout, ?That?s no fun?? she mumbles before letting her arms fall back to her sides, ?Where do I sleep and such?? she asked the man, turning her head to look at him.
He smiles and pointed to a door. ?Through there are the barracks and that?s where you?ll be staying, with the rest of the crew.?
She went to the door and opened it, ?Let me know when we reach land.? She said before closing the door behind her. Walking down the stairs to the second level of the ship, she would see posts where beds were hung with pieces of cloth. She went as far back as she could go, she came across a whole in the wall that looked like a bed made for her, its blankets were neatly made and a pillow that looked brand new, she started to put up a barrier from her and the rest of the crewmen, using the sheets from under the top sheet to make a make-shaft wall. Once done, she sat on the bed and opened the bag, looking down into it and at the package for a few long moments before closing it tight and sliding it under the bed. She lay on the bed and drifted off to sleep.
He was at the helm, steering his ship as his men went along doing their duties. The sun finally started to come up and he smiled as he slipped beneath the stairs of the helm and into the captains quarters shutting the door behind him.
She stirred in her sleep before she woke up, sitting up quickly, breathing heavily. ?Shit?? she mumbles before swinging her legs over the side of the bed. ?Hadn?t had a dream like that in years?why now?? she mumbles to herself. Sitting there for almost thirty minutes now, she finally got up as her stomach started to growl. ?Hadn?t been this hungry in years either?? she said to herself again. She went up to the deck to look for the man that brought her here. Opening the door, she shielded her eyes with her hand from the sunlight till she adjusted to the sudden brightness, she looked around for the man and couldn?t find him. She went over to one of the crew men that was mopping the deck, ?where?s your captain.?
The crewman looked at her ?Well the captain? he be in da capin quarters, plotten durin da day. He always does. He neva come out durin da day. But he ask we don't disturbs him durin da day. So ye hafta wait till nightfall.? He said, pointing to a door on the opposite side of the ship before he went back to scrubbing the deck.
She frowned, heading to the Captain?s Quarters of the ship, knocking before she opened it and quickly stepped inside. ?Oi, mind tellin me where the meat is? I?m starving? she says then mumbles ?for the first time in years?? Looking about the dark room for the man.
The captain was sitting at his desk deep in thought looking at the maps. He looked up and shielded himself from the sunlight as she walked in, looking at her when she asked for food. She quickly shut the door behind herself. He took his dagger that was drivin into the desk's wood and pointed to a table full of fruit, meat, and biscuits that sat there for her and a bottle of wine. He followed her with his eyes to the table but did not speak a word; he kept looking back at the charts.
She waved to him, ?Thanks." She said as she walked over to the table and grabbed the meat, happily biting into it, she chewed it slowly, savoring the juices, the flavor, and the blood.
He mumbles to himself as he read the charts and rubbed his temples and then picked up the compass and continued to chart as he occasionally looked at her eat. Finishing off her 4th slab of meat, she reached for her 5th and tore into it.
He smiled ?Try the wine.? As he watched her eat, he curiously walked over to her and poured her glass. He smiled and handed the glass to her.
She sniffed the wine and then went back to happily tearing away at the meat, ready to go for a 6th. ??oesn?t smell right, I'll pass.? She said between mouth full?s.
He shrugged and set it on the table as he poured himself a glass. Drinking slowly he went back to the maps finishing it off as he then opened a bottle of rum and drank at it.
She reached for a 6th when she realized they were all gone. She started to pout when her stomach growled again. She went to the door and peaked out the window at the crewmen. ?I?m so, so hungry?? She mumbled, watching the men fast at work as she pouted. He looked at her, ?Aye, I see?and why be that? Did ye sleep ok?? he asked, looking at her. ?Shut the blinds. I do not like sun light.?
She closed the blinds and sat in a near by chair, holding her stomach. ?I did, I just had a dream I haven?t had in years then woke up hungry like a wolf?? She said staring at the floor, ?Is there anymore meat?? she asked, looking at him.
He whistled and a crewmember walked in quickly shutting the door behind him. The door latched behind him and he began to get a little scared. ?Here you are.? It was the man that she had asked where the captain was. ?What ya need capin?? He asked with a little shakiness in his voice.
She perked up, looking the crewman up and down, ?Now this is what I call a meal.? She stood up and walked over to the man, grabbing a letter opener that was cloe by. ?Thank you greatly.? She said before thrusting the blade into his stomach, pulling it out and watching him fall to the floor in grave pain. She knelt down beside him, turning him onto his back and ripping his shirt open, ?You?re going to be chewy, but tasteful.? She said aloud before tearing into him?
The captain threw his cloak on and put his hood up and opened the door as the sun began to set and he looked at her ?Clean up ye mess when ye be done.? He walked out shutting the door leaving her to her dead meal as he went to the helm to steer the ship.
Chapter 4:
They?re mine?
An hour or so later, she finishes with the man, nothing left but his head, untouched. She gathered up the bones the best she could wrapped in his clothing. She leaves the quarters, closing the door behind her. She goes up to the man, ?I cleaned it up? Throw it over?? she asked him, holding up the remains to show what she means and gesturing to the water with her chin.
The crew watched them talking at the helm and noticed the head. Crazed, one of them stepped forward and said ?Capin, what has she done to me mate?? The captain sighed and looked at her, ?Yes. Toss?em. Mate. She didn?t do nothin. He was found that way in me cabin. So which one of ye scally wags done it?? Trying to cover up her tracks. ?Jeeze? he thought. No one stepped forward. ?Look mates if I find another body I will point my finger at the nearest man and say he did it and ye gents know how I get rid of me men.? They all shivered.
She looked down at the head and looked back at the man, ?opsie, thought they were in the barracks?? she said to herself. She walked over to the edge and threw the bones over then stared up at the moon?
The men shook their heads and headed to the barracks. He looked at her. ?When I said clean up after yourself I meant clean up and throw it out back. All you have to do it pull back the sheets over the windows. Now, are you full or am I going to need to get you another one???
She shook her head ?no? slightly, mesmerized by the blue moon, she sat down on her knees and continued to stare off into the sky. He shook his head throwing an empty bottle against the floor. Looking ahead, he stalked down to check the ropes and the deck as he does every night.
She snapped out of the trance when she heard the loud crash of the bottle breaking when hit against the floor. Looking over to the man, ?What?s your name?? she called out to him.
He looked at her and sighed. He walked back over and looked down at her. ?My name does not matter. Where is the package?? he said looking her over, looking for the bag.
?Name first,? she said plainly to the man. ?then I?ll show you the bag.?
?My name to you is captain and you will not know be by any other name. Where is the package because if you don?t have it?It?ll be the death of you.? He said in a stern and serious voice.
She growled and stood up. ?It?s cloaked,? she stated blandly, ?? anything else you need, your highness?? She said, walking down the steps to the middle of the deck.
?it is captain, not the same name that, that stuck up, rich, cross eyed, fat pig, scaly wag goes by, Got it missy?? he said with anger and a low tone to his voice. He followed her. ?Why do you need or want to know my name so bad?? he said more calmly.
She ignored what he said firstly and responded to his question, ?You know mine, it?s only appropriate I know yours.? She said blankly, looking out to the open sea.
?I take it ye like the sea.? Walking over to her in a calm manner. ?Ye like the way it makes ye feel, the way it calms ye and draws ye to it? They way it makes ye feel like yer free?and like ye can do whatever ye like? My name was based off of the sea. Qumado is my name and I wish that ye do not use it round me crew?because I do not wish them to know my name. Savy?? he said as he rested his arm on the railing, leaning against it.
"Qumando?? she said to herself, ?That?s a Spanish name. And to answer your question on the sea, the sea is calming but the moon makes me feel free, powerful, and calm. I don?t know why, but I?ve always felt that way towards the moon since the first time I ever set eyes on it.? She said, watching the moon?s reflection dance in the ripples of the sea, ?As the moon is for me, the sea is for you.? She said softly.
?No it?s not Spanish, but nice try. Well ye be a mutt so I expected no better then ye to like the moon.? He said walking off to the helm as he stood there in front of the wheel. He sighed again and changed course.
She felt the ship move and looked up at Qumado, ?Why are you changing course?? she yelled out, in couriosity .
He looked at her and then back up. ?ye know not why? We have an island to get ta. So don't mind me! Ye just keep to yerself until we get to tha Island of Oaksiam.? He yelled back as he looked ahead and then at the compass built into the ship.
She growled, ?you may want to stock up on meat before you run out of crew mates.? She said before going down to the barracks. She went to her bed, pulling out the bag and dumped the contents beside her; a dagger, fruits, and bundles of clothing. She put the package under her pillow, cloaked it, then turned her attention back to the contents. She smiles picking up the dagger and setting it to the left side of her pillow. Then she un-bundles one set of clothing and frowned, it was the same as what she was wearing but a different color, green. She tossed it on the floor and went to another bundle. It was a dress, one that most middle-class women wore, it was burgundy with a v-cut. She smiles weakly at it then folded it and set it aside. She sighed, eyeballing the last bundle of clothes. She decided to unbundle them and then go tell Qumado thank you for the clothes but no thanks. Once the bundle was undone, her eyes widened. ?How the hell did he get a hold of this?? she gasped. A deep sea blue outfit with white, intricate designs trailing down it, short sleeved, long coat mid-thigh high boots with intricate black lace at the top of them to match, and a head dress to top it off. She quickly dressed into it and looked herself over at the intricate clothing. She hurried to the door that lead to the deck to thank Qumado.
He was at the bow of the ship and he heard her coming to him. When she had stopped to say thank you, he spoke with a low and husky voice with a little hurt in it. ?Ye know, I had to go through a lot of shit to get to ye. I made ye clothes and gave ye food and even gave up one of me crew mates to satisfy yer needs, to make sure ye was taken care of and ye treat me like I am some scaly wag who has given ye nothing. I made the garments in ye bag even the one ye be wearing if ye changed.? He said to her with a softer tone, ?I be the way me be, I cannot change what I am or what I do. I do what I do for a purpose and a purpose is served out when orders are given. So please, except what I offer ye and do not give me shit back fer it.?
She stared at him for a moment before speaking up, ?I thank you greatly for all you?ve done for me. But, you don?t have to constantly threaten to kill me if something doesn?t go your way and I am who I am, and I don?t plan on changing either. I agreed to deliver this package because I wanted to travel for the first time before I passed on, not because I didn?t want to be killed?? she said softly to him, turning around to head back to the barracks.
?I threaten because it be my nature. It be what I was born to do. I was born to kill? and I don?t like it but it has always gotten my point across. It be how it?s always been. I apologize, I do not mean to come off so strong and if it were up to me? ye would not be passing off as soon as ye are.? He said calmly, looking out ahead of the ship.
Stopping, she chuckles lightly, ?I may pass on tomorrow or not for another hundred years, but whenever I do, I?ll return to what I once was.? She said with a soft smile. She looked to the east and sees a strand on thin light. ??awn? off to bed. Night!? She said as she trotted off to the barracks and to her bed, laying down.
***DREAM LAND***
A large white wolf stands in the river, watching as the fish swim past her paws. A large fresh water fish swims close by, the wolf crouches, waiting for the fish to get closer. A few feet away now, the wolf pounces on the fish and bites down on the fishes? long, slippery body, its teeth sinking down into the scaly flesh. The wolf walks to shore laying down and begins to eat the fish.
***END DREAM***
He sighed a bit as he disappeared into his quarters, shutting the door immediately as the sun started to shine across the horizon. He went back to his maps and studied them hard, as he heard his men rise and get to work.
Kirami woke up from her dream with her stomach growling. She sits up and grabs the dagger and heads to the deck. She goes to the side of the ship and looks into the water, looking for any lingering shadows. She spots some close to the bow of the ship and she goes looking for rope to tie the dagger to.
The men eyeballed her with a curious death glare as they worked. One of them came up to her with a rope in hand and said in a monotone, ?Looking for rope?? He stated and held it tight. He walked to her stretching out the rope. He snapped his fingers as two crew men came to surround her and one of them took the dagger away, the other holding her arms and the third man tied the rope around her body real tightly so she couldn't get away.
Kirami didn?t struggle but went with it, ?What the hell you think you?re doing?? she asked rhetorically to the man who had the rope first, glaring back at him.
After he tied her up, he looked at the men. ?Get the bags and one of the chests. Ye killed me best friend, ye freak.? He said as the other two went off to get what he demanded. ?And now ye shall die like we do when we piss of da capin. A slow and horrible death.? He said with a grin, enjoying every moment of his vengeance.
She smiled at the man, ?If you kill me, you?ll be doing me a favor.? She said as she started to chuckle that progressed into a laugh, the sun reaching its peak.
They smiled as the man with the bag came out. They put her in the bag as the other man came with the chest.
She didn?t struggle nor scream a word; she wouldn?t allow them the pleasure of hearing her cry. Once they put her in the bag, she started to panic just a tad but didn't let it show.
They threw her in the chest and just as they locked it she could hear rustling and thudding from the vibrations in the floor of the deck. She could hear men yelling for help as one of them yelled ?Capin? PLEA?!!? He was cut off with a crunching sound. The chest was unlocked and she could feel herself being lifted as the opening of the bag kind of fell around her and as he came into view she could see that his body was starting to smoke and his skin was slowly turning red as bits of his flesh were starting to completely burn off. He ran into the quarters, closing the door behind him. He set her down on her feet as he passed out, hitting the floor with a loud thud. Men still scavenging about outside. The door was locked so she couldn?t leave until he was awakened.
She watched him collapse. She stared at him blankly, not sure what to make out of what all just happened. Going to the window in the door, opening the curtains to where the light shines on her and nothing else, she looks around at the deck to see all that had happened and what was happening. When she looked out she saw that he had killed every man but 5, it was a bloody mess. There were heads thrown all over the place. Hearts and other major organs as well. It was a bloody massacre and very still, except for the 5 men running around like chickens with their heads cut off. After a few moments, she closes the curtain securely and goes to the couch on the right side of the room and sits down, watching over Qumado, dozing off an hour or so later.
She drifted back into a dream.
***DREAM LAND***
A white wolf sniffs around the battlefield, no one left standing, bodys of soldiers lay around the crimson stained field. On the other side of the field, the wolf finds a man, face down in the mud. The wolf licks the mans face and nudges his arm. When the wolf new for a fact he was gone, it looked up to the sky and began to howl.
***END OF DREAM***
Her eyes shot open, inhaling sharply. She didn?t move for several moments before finally sitting up, her eyes darting around the pitch-dark room for Qumado.
His lifeless body still on the floor, he moaned a bit and slowly tried to get up. Wincing a bit as he slowly got to his knees and he screamed in agonizing pain, collapsing back to the floor.
She rushed to him out of instinct, fear upon her face. Not sure what to do, all she could do was watch, one silent tear falling down her cheek.
He looked at her as a tear of blood ran down his face and he spoke softly. ?I will be fine.? He stood slowly, wincing in pain. ?Just wait?just wait till dawn?those fuckers are mine.? He said in a deep growl.
She watched him stand, standing shortly after he did. Feeling the tear, she wiped it off and started at her hand in shock of the tear. She looked at Qumado then wiped the tear on her coat. ?Anything?I can do?to help?? she asked, a little shaky.
?Yes. If ye be hungry have at them?god help them at sunset.? He said weakly as he softly sat down on the couch hurting.
Chapter 5:
Bloody Massacre
She looked at the door then back at him before slowly stepping to the door, taking off the arm warmers, the coat, and the headdress. She stopped at the door, ?You need to cover.? She said before the opened the door.
He raised up his arm to shield himself from the sun light and sighed waiting to listen to her kill them. The men looked at her when she walked out. They looked down and away from her as they all fell to their knees.
She closed the door behind her. She looked at all the crewmen and frowned. ?None of you are even worth the nibble.? She said with disappointment thick in her voice. She sniffed the air, thickly filled with fear and land. She looked around to where it was and spotted a small patch of sand in the middle of the ocean. She grinned then went up to the helm and looked at the compass before turning the wheel to steer the ship left some. She dropped the anchor a half a mile from the patch of sand. ?All of you make a swim for that patch, or be eaten slowly alive!? She shouted to the men.
The sun starting to set as the anchir was weighed and he stumbled out. ?No?Wait? I have something better. Tie each of them up and put them in a bag then in a chest?the chests are in the barracks. Please just do this for me.?
She didn?t move for a few moments before speaking, ?You heard him, get the bags and chests.? She called out to the men, waiting for them to react.
He almost fell walking over to her stumbling, he smiled, ?This is how we get rid of back stabbers.? He said. When they were back their heads hung because they knew what was going to happen. ?Tie them up and put each one of them in a bag, then throw them in the chest.?
She smiled, ?Why me? Why not have them do it to each other, the last one standing I?ll bag up, lock up, and toss.? She suggested to Qumado.
He smiled as they did as they were told. The last one stood crying as he knows what he has done to his comrades. He held his wrists out of her to tie.
?The ultimate punishment.? She said with amusement, tying him tightly, cutting blood circulation off, putting him in the bag and locking him in the chest. Looking over to Qumado, ?Have him wait for the dyer moment or toss him now?? she asked him.
He smiled and opened a small hole in the chest as he reached in his pocket for a little bag and pulled out a black scorpion and put a few through the little whole and did the same with each chest as they all screamed. ?Now?toss them?? he managed to get out with one breath as he was still recovering.
She chuckled as she tossed each chest over board, saving the friend of her last meal for last. Once all the others were tossed, she knelt down to the chest?s hole and said into it, ?By the way, your friend was utterly delicious.? Before tossing him over, he screamed in agony as the poison from the scorpion worked it?s magic. ?Ass whole? she mumbled once he hit the water.
He smiled as he stood up and stumbled for the mop and water bucket? ?We? We have to cl?clean before we?we get to port??? He stumbled around trying to clean. Out of breathe his eyes growing a fainter red.
She laughed softly, taking the bucket and mop from him, ?Like hell we?re going to port with you in that condition. Get in the quarters and rest, I?ll clean up.? She said softly and calmly as she started to mop up the blood.
He looked at her with hurt in his eyes? ?But my ship? I? I will heal?please?I wanna?I?I have to clean.? He said as he stumbled to the floor and looked at her with a want look in his eyes, he was beat up and hurt. He was tired of being the way he was and he looked at her. ?I want to change?I do?help me please??
She set the mop down and helps him up to his feet. ?You need to quit working your body while it heals.? She said calmly, ?I?ll help you once you?ve recovered.?
His eyes full of hurt because he couldn?t do it, having someone else help him wasn?t for him. Once in his quarters he was laying down healing. He never sleeps, it was what he has become that has made him this way.
Kirami found some rope left over from tying up his crew and found her dagger tossed on the deck where they tied her up. Tying the rope to the end of the dagger, she goes to the front of the ship were dolphins are alongside the ship. She throws the dagger at one of the dolphins, going in at an angle on the side of the sea mammal. After fighting the dolphin, she pulls it up and pulls her dagger out and starts to gut the fish to prep it for cooking.
Qumado looked at the ceiling and smiled as he stood up and got his balance back. He still had the open wounds but he knew they would go away. He walked out, he had been healing the whole day. He looked at the deck, at the bloody mess that awaited his attention.
She was just throwing the remains of the dolphins over board when Qumado came onto the deck. ?Hey, how you feeling? I caught a dolphin and got it ready to cook, where?s the kitchen?? she asked him with a gentle smile, the bloody mess left untouched from the crew men?s crushed skulls.
He looked at her rubbing his head and then at the bloody mess. ?Go through the barracks and to the back where the cook hall is and the stove and oven are on your left. Now, until we get to land we are going to have to pull shifts? Ye have the day and I have the nights. I will set course at sunrise so ya don?t have to do much and if we have to change course I will write it down. We are going to Tortuga and that is a half way to our destination. We need a crew because only two will get tiring?and I will miss seein ye. So. Go and cook then get to sleep.? As he grabbed a mop and bucket to clean up his mess and when he did, she could still see the gashing wounds in his face and neck as he started to clean the blood.
She nodded, watching him for a moment before going to the kitchen with the prepped dolphin and got started on cooking. In an hour or so later, she went back onto the deck. She set a plate of cooked fish on a flat surface. ?Here?s some food, lots of nutrients. You can eat it, toss it, or just leave it. I don?t care. Night!? she called out before going back into the barracks and back to the kitchen. ?Night? he smiled and called back at her. She sat at the table that was right behind the kitchen and began to eat her meal after that, she went to bed.
His body still in pain but he worked past it as he did his men?s chores. Walking over to the plate of food he picked it up and tossed it over board, walking up to his quarters he grabs a piece of paper and feathered pen as he writes down what she needs to do and what course she is to take and waits for her to awaken, walking up to the helm, the sun on the horizon.
She gets up and quickly goes onto deck, not sure of the time. Seeing that it is still partly dark, she heads over to Qumado. ?What?s going on for the day?? she asked him, looking around the deck. ?How are you holding up, more importantly.? She asked more serious.
He shook his head. ?My condition does not matter. I will be healed by the end of my day. Now here is the list of what you must do?now about three is when you need to change course to South East from South West. So please be careful?and keep the ship clean of what messes you make.? He said as he walked by her and kissed her cheek and then turned around just before he went into his quarters he said, ?I will be up as usual and tonight you may use my quarters. Just so you know.? With that he went into his quarters.
She blushed a deep scarlet, ?Uh?Ok?? was all she could manage. When he went into his quarters she went up to the helm and set the paper below the compass and looked up at the sky, deep in thought.
Once the sun started to reach its highest point in the sky, she got bored and decided to climb the top of the mast and practice her balance. She sensed the time of three approach so she jumped down to the helm and turned the wheel till the compass read South East then made her way to the mast to continue practice till nightfall?
Sun set came up and he was right on cue. He walked out in a white shirt and black vest lined and laced with golden thread. His pants had a golden stripe down each side against solid black with black dress boots. His over coat fancy, solid black with white striped cuffs and gold threading and his cloak a solid black as he walked up to the mast, yelling up at her ?Now do you want to sleep or go into Tortuga with me and help look for a crew?? as he looked at her with his eyes now glowing a blue color.
She was watching the moon a few moments more before jumping down ?Let me grab my coat.? She said before going into the quarters to grab her coat, arm warmers and head dress. Putting them on and went back to the deck. ?Ready.? She said, smelling the air. ?Land is approaching.? She said looking in the direction of Tortuga.
He smiled as they laid anchor when land was in site. He lowered the long boat and put the oars inside as he watched her. He held his hand to help her down into the boat as he looked at Tortuga ?When we get there?stick with me.?
She dropped down into the boat then grinned, ?I may be a girl,? she said then looked at him over her shoulder, ?But I?m not helpless. Thanks though.? She said before turning back to Tortuga, ?Mind if we stop by weaponry before we leave port? If they have one, that is.?
He smiled and started to row. ?No they don?t but ye do know if ye just want another weapon all ye have to do it tell me and I can make it for ye.? As they came up to the docks at Tortuga he got out and held out his arm for her to take as he gave a gentle smile.
She grabbed his forearm and stepped out of the boat. ?Where to?? she asked, looking around at the people, there were men passed out all over the place on the docks and some of them sober enough to hit on a woman but that was about it, none of them walked straight and gun smoke filled the air as she could here pops going off in the town itself. ?None of them look trustworthy let alone sober enough to hold a mop?? she stated as an overly drunk man passed by them."
