Alright...after a terribly long hiatus, caused mostly by my laziness, my role playing site is up and running once more. I still have work to do on it, but I've massively overhauled it to make it look nicer and make better sense. It is a Military Fantasy, with lots of fighting, political intrigue and other...stuff. And Magic! Don't forget the Magic! Features include: -A new and interesting rank system. No body wants to stay stuck at the same old rank forever, right? Now, as your post count increases, so to does your rank. It's easy to reach the lower ranks, but do you have what it takes to become a General? Can you go any higher? But what if you don't to be in the military? That's fine to! Just say the word and you can be any thing you like-within reason, of course. -A chatbox. I know, that's not anything new or special, but my site lacked it before, and it has it now. -A diverse world. Cremor is a world full of possibilities, and rife with secrets. Humans intermingle with numerous other races, living their lives in harmony...Right? War is on the horizon, and you'll have to choose sides or find a place to hide if you want to see tomorrow. worldofcremor.proboards.com/index.cgi?Check out my site. We have staff spots open, and a desperate, desperate need of members. Please, show your support and join up.

It looks cool, but I don't really get it. How does it work?

If you mean the ranking system, it's actually very simple.
You see the spot where it says "Terrific Member" under your user name? On my site, instead of "Newbie" , "Great Member" or "Terrific Member", there are military ranks, such as "Recruit", "Sargent" and "General." You get one character per account, and the rank under you're user name is the rank of your character.
I did this to reflect the fact that, in real life, you don't stay stuck at one rank for ever, and you can actually rank up rather quickly depending on the circumstances. On my site, the more you post, the higher your rank is. Lower ranks have rather modest post requirements, but the highest ones require an astronomical post count, meaning you'll have to work hard to reach a high rank.
Hope that answers your question, and thanks for the interest. I know it looks dead right now, but I'm getting ready to start pushing things along.

I have a few more questions. Does the ranking system affect your characters rank in any way? Or is it just for fun? ? To what extent is it steampunk, ie what do they have and not have that we do? What kind of magic? What restrictions and weaknesses does the magic have? Are there different types of magic?

The ranking system directly affects your character's rank. If you yourself have a rank of private, than your character will have the rank of private.
The steampunk aspect is a bit variable. I want people to make the world as they play, so basically anything you want is allowed, within reason. You can ask about specific concepts if you want to make sure of something, but for the most part just have fun with it.
Magic is also a bit variable. When I first made the site I had a rather rigid system for making up types of magic, but right now it's free form. Just say what your character can do. Again, be reasonable. No more then three powers or abilities, be they magical or otherwise, with limitations you make up to make sure they aren't to powerful.
I want people to have fun, and I know the best way to run any kind of system is to have as few regulations as possible. Until I say something is illegal, it's safe to assume you can do it. And even if you mess up, I won't skin you alive or anything, so there's nothing to worry about.
I hope that answers your questions.

Interested just a quick sort of Q; Do you suppose in information there could be a topic on basic military customs and regulations for the people like myself who haven't much clue and don't know how to find out this stuff? Also (for people like me) if there could be a place listing military ranks 'cause I'm always mixing up which rank is higher than the other.

Hm...that's a good idea. The info isn't hard to find, really it's just a matter of googling "Military Ranks", or "Military Traditions", but I'll put that information up on the site.
Thanks for the suggestion and the interest, Hiroku. Really, I appreciate any help getting this thing rolling.

My pleasure. I'm sure I'll discover more questions I need answering but for the time being I've joined at least.

That would depend on what sort of Military it is, as Naval traditions differ from that of Army or Air Force. Even within the Marine Corps'. No matter however similar they may be, some things are done much differently in one than to the other. Is this a case of one, two or all? Cause if you know if Cremor has one, two or more... finding stuff and applying it is made that much more substantial. Very interesting site with only the one criticism is that I find the table/boards/categories too wide. It makes it difficult to read. I know it's probably easier on a 15" screen but when you have the likes of a 24" monitor... it's a greater distance for the eyes to travel. I can lose my place very easily when read long amounts of text in that context. Restricting it makes that easier and its easy in both monitor formats. Just a thought. Might join up but if I do, it'll be when i get back from work. If you need/would like graphics done, gimme a shout. Don't mind helping out.
