Ok I was in my thinking place, won't say where but while I was there the idea came to me. To have a little contest just for the fun of it. In the contest whoever wanted to participate would make short stories, and we could have different sections for the stories. Comedy, action, drama, romance, thriller/horror, fantasy anything. And there would be a pole in which people could vote who stories they liked the most.
Another one which you probably had one was who has the coolest, most sick, nerdy or whatever you want for your character. Make an rp character, and like the other sections for the short story there would be something like the most twisted character.
And I love creative signatures using words. So if there wasn't one already, but I think there was it be cool to have a signature contest everyone trying to out do each others signatures. Just for the fun it all since some people are bored around here, and who knows maybe it'll attract more people who like rp.

It can be anyway you'd like it. OC or not, it's nothing serious just thought some people would want to try something like this. Well doesn't have to be an actual story I guess, it can be like a prolouge. Just something to help pass the time.

Different types of writing contests? This could also help members practice their writing skills. Reading other people's work can also give them inspiration.
I always enjoyed prompt writing, so you can try that. Just a word of advice though, you should have a word limit. Some people go on to long and it is important to learn that more is NOT always better.

Well, if there's a limit I'm out.
I think it's a pain when I can only write so much :/ What if my idea gos beyond the limit? Then i'm screwed, and have to come up with a shorter idea.
Some short ones are fine, but I'm trying to make mine long. Not just for the sake of making them long, but making them long AND Good. Gotta get better man. Pratice.
Do book authors have writing limits? Nope. Well, for the chapter I guess.

Authors have to learn that quality is better than quantity. I'll be honest Rup, most of the time when I see one of your word wall posts, I skim them instead of actually reading them. They don't hold my attention enough to give them a full read.
Having a word limit will teach the writer to include the important details and leave out the over-fluff. Description is important, but depending on how it is presented, it can be really enticing or downright boring.
Also, you have to keep in mind that judges don't want to spend an entire day reading a single short story that isn't exactly short. I'd say, for a short story, perhaps a 10 page limit would be good. 10 pages will give you well over 5000 words, and technically in order to be considered a true 'short story' you cannot go over 7500 words anyway. Yeah, authors have a word cap too.
Classification__Word count Novel _______over 40,000 words Novella ______17,500 to 40,000 words Novelette ____7,500 to 17,500 words Short story ___under 7,500 words

Well not to sound like a D-Bag, but when I see your posts I'm dissaponted. They're short, and boring :/ At least recently it's been pretty lame.
Your comments are hardly over three-to-four paras, for one character that is. When you double up, you double up in post length.
Try, I have gone over the top in details some times, and a lot of the time it doesn't add up well. But ya know, it's what i'm used too. People on myspace always aimed for longer, and better posts. quality and quantity mate. I have quantity... just gotta work on quality. Besides, you seem to be the only one with an issue with my posts, so skim away.
I think i might make my own thread, writing out my long fanfics as I please. Laterz mates, and in the meantime, have fun with this

Hmm...I personally like this idea. I always like writing...
The trick for me will be finding an idea I can express in 10 pages. Still, it'll be an interesting challenge, and will help with my tendency of over articulating my stories.
Hmm...It's almost summer, and once I get going on an idea I can knock a ten pager out like it's nothing'...I'm in.

Rhapsody✘: She ain't the only one. I agree with her. Have you ever seen my posts asking what the hell is happening? That's because I generally, after reading the whole day, I'd rather just write. And reading is fun, don't get me wrong, but I have ten fingers for writing, only two eyes for reading. But sometimes your posts just go on and on and on about one unimportant thing. You really do loose me in your posts. I really loose track of what is going on and often have to scan it over and over again to fish out the impotant details. But anyway, off topic. I would like to do some sort of short story contest-sharing thingamabob. Sounds like fun. I have had a few ideas stuck in my brain too long... Curse you Word that I have to pay $110 for... and I need to let it out. As soon as I finally get $110 and don't squander it on cards and candy all the friggin time.
