Well people use to rp on myspace you said right? Well we could make a little rping group on facebook called TRPS which could attract ppl to this site aswell. Alot of ppl went from myspace to facebook so there might be a chance alot of ppl would like it.

Hm... not a bad idea at all! Anyone else in favor of creating a TRPS Facebook fan page? (: They wouldn't necessarily have to role play on it, but it could just be a fan page as a way of showing appreciation for the forum and potentially gathering some new members.

Hmmmm...
Well, in all honesty, I didn't want to point this out, for complaining is pointless and whats the point of pointing out problems without a solution?
Lately i've been getting bored on the sight... Even after joining some RPs with great protentional, and making some of my own, My passion is just slowly running on empty. Boredom. It'll kill you slowly.
And I realized what my issue was, I RP with the same people over and over. Kit, Xela, Roane, Lily, Kestrel, Iix, Zay, Hiroku. See? I CAN NAME THEM!!!!! I forget the names of my own family members...
that just shows we have a problem -_- Ya see, when I RP with the same people over and over, things aren't... well... It gets dull. On myspace [sorry if that gets old] I RPed with... crap, i don't even know how many people. A LOT. Per profile.
New and differnt RPing strategy, New characters, just things being completely different each time. But more importantly, by having so many people, I was able to branch out with no issue. If you keep RPing with the same people... well...
Example: I want a Kirby RP, but Xela is the only one here who is kinda in to Kirby. And since I have the same people all the time, there is no hope of making a kirby RP Ya dig?
This could work for us... But I wouldn't and couldn't be the one to trust to be on the frontier... Although its tempting, I'm known for being... 'Epic' that could scare people away... or draw them in. Either way, I don't know how to make a facebook page look good, and I'd turn away anyone I think would be a N00b.
Being honest. We need someone who can be fun and chilled. People skills my friend. that, and a good RPer. We gotta impress people ya know. Maybe a quick onexone on myspace would make them go- 'Huh... there's an entire site of people like this? Sweetness'
And that is my input.

You can't just out people for being new to roleplaying. When I joined TRPS, I was god awful. You get better through practice.
Personally, I like roleplaying with certain people (Especially when I have a history of rping with them) and when said people join my threads, I'd get super excited about the RP.
But I digress.
I think a fanpage is a good idea. One of my members on my roleplay site created a facebook page for it and it did actually draw in a few people.

I can't really say much since I've been away from this site on a massive hiatus for so long that I can't remember many of the original members apart from Kit and Nameless and Brenda and so forth... not that my memory with names is any good either way.
As with everything, there are pros and cons to everything.
Yes, role playing with the same faces can get same old but that's we keep advertising right? And thus a Facebook group would potentially attract more to come and role play. But some people like to role play with familiars because they know how far that person can go, what their limits are and you're more likely to get an in-depth storyline. You have to start over with new folk and you may say something they don't get and find offensive when you mean it entirely a jovial context.
Everyone under the sun with an internet connection has a facebook page or is likely to have one, so one potentially has a higher audience base recruiting there than one has recruiting on a place like Neopets where TNT get anal and freeze you for something that could be good advertisement for them in return. I hardly play Neopets anymore for that reason alone. You can't find a good rp or people for fear of being ice'd.
I'm usually on Facebook most of my time so if you want a 'Recruitment Gunny Admin' dude thing... I'll put my name in the proverbial hat.

Just a few things from Roane:
First of all is my paranoia. I'm not too friendly on sharing things with people I DON'T KNOW in person. As far as I know, you all could be rapists or serial killers or you could all be really nice people. Not saying you are, I am not a trusting person.
The only person I really trust that is on this site is Lilypup, because, HEY! I know her in real life. Fact, she's probably one of my best friends. But that's only because I know her in real life.
Sorry for all this, but I'm almost all against it. I'm still a young person, so is Lily, and so are you, Rup, from what you say. But I don't trust people I meet online. Nuh-uh.
Second is that if we do recruit... I am all in on that. I tried to recruit a good friend of mine... but his internet screwed up and wouldn't work. If we recruit within our own friends, i would be in for that, because I know them, and would like new members, in a sense.
But unless we hide most of our personal info, I'm against it. A few of you know my first name, but my last name is something I would like to keep to myself for right now. I don't know you guys, and you qould really have to convince me to join. Like trying to convince Michael Jackson to come back to life convince. (I would expect that would be hard.)

-Nod, Nod- Yes, Yes. Good pints, and You're all right. kit, Brenda, Lord babal, Zay. Even you Roane. You sure you don't know me in person? ^-^... -SARCASM ALERT! -Back hands- Whats da matter wit ya? Of course you don't give out info to strange people over the internet mate.
but anyway. I'm going to be real with you people... Facebook is somewhat like myspace, but I'm not sure if it's RP material. On myspace, there were MANY RPers. I could find over 100 Narutos or sonic the hedghogs in one day. But the point is- weather Tom knew it or now, he basicly set it up for us to RP! It was a perfect set up, and before he started making changes to the site, people could type a seemingly endless amount in comments alone. thus, more advanced RPers made.... Loooooooong posts. Not trying to put anyone down... but we're n00bs compared to people I ran into back on myspace. One such indivdual would be someone playing as- Kakashi. I'll never forget this guy. 'd get bored, and spend an hour... reading a post someone had sent back to him! Bugger it was good stuff mate. [To bad I can't really remember any of it]
Anyway, I personly find it easiery to RP with people I don't know. Thus romaces not seeming so strange. but thats just me. Point is- weather we know them or not, we should start recruiting.
Also- Something to think about.
this site could use some upgrades. We want more members right? How'bout a chat box that keeps up to date. Like, I don't have to refresh the page to see if someone posted in it eh? That'd be nice. Should we have a section in which we can store characters? I personaly haven't had any problems with losing characters, but what happens when I make a sweet character for an RP, the RP gets deleted later, and I have to re-do the character off of memory?
But really- We SHOULD have rank. every time you guys say 'recruiting' I'm tempted to salute. We should have a ranking system, something more than just 'this person is a good member because they posted 5000 times' Just sayin'.

I second Rup. And besides, if we really want to talk, I suggest a Vent. It's used by my guildies on WoW (not like I ever talk to them... its mainly my dad and them and I get left out half the time) and it's pretty cool. We will be able to hear each other's voices and I may let you guys know who I actually am. Just a suggestion. And Rup... that would be strange... O.o And Rhapsody✘... if we all recruit our friends, then we have ppl that we don't know. Right? Cuz we don't know eachother.

We could use Vent to actually talk, but you need to pay for that don't you? So for now how about skype? And as for not knowing the people it's not like we're giving out addresses.

Personally, if a post is too long, it frustrates me. Usually the people who make the walls of text don't write it in a way that makes me want to read and I end up skim reading it anyway. Some people can word things beautifully (Nameless, I miss you're rping!)
Anyway, I understand ppls hesitation about the facebook, but you don't HAVE to join it you know. It can be just an advertisement for the site. You're already a member on the site, you don't have to be a fan on facebook too.
And Rup - the c-box feature, auto-refresh. It usually costs money. That's usually why you don't see it that often. As for characters you want to save, I used to have a word file saved on my computer with the bios of particularly favored characters. Do that instead. As for Rank, I dislike that idea completely. It can intimidate others and rank insinuates we are no longer equals.

Alright... trying to reply to all this good stuff. (: Firstly, ANY suggestions or ideas that would improve the forum would be much appreciated in the Comments, Compliments & Ideas board. If enough people agree to a change, I will do my absolute best to make it happen. I've actually never role played on MySpace or known that it was done... although I deleted mine probably about a year ago, so if it's a new thing, that would explain why I haven't heard of it. I still don't know if actually role playing on the potential TRPS Facebook fan page would be a great idea... it might just confuse the message of 'all role plays welcome, no limit to genres,' which is essentially what TRPS has always been about. As for putting out personal information... there would be no need to do that. It would be your choice to 'like' the fan page or not... no one would have to put any personal info out there. As for Vent, you don't have to pay for it. I think it would be cool for those who really like to talk a lot in the Chat Box, but I don't really see all that much activity there... at least not enough to require a TRPS Vent account or anything like that. If certain members would like to communicate that way, I think it would be best to just discuss that and set it up amongst yourselves. The more new members we get, the more people there would be to potentially become long-term fellow role players that stick with you and possibly enjoy the same genres... :3 I've put a poll up about this, so please vote so we can make decisions about what should happen! theroleplays.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=polls&thread=4251Thanks for all your feedback. (:

-facepalm- None of you have RPed on myspace? no wounder some of you are confused on how you would do it on facebook. -sigh- No man, You don't need to put any personal info, unless you want to. Most people on Myspace made their page for pure RP, but still talked OC [or RL] to other people while they waited on posts. Oi~ its so hard to explain.
I wish I could give a better example, but it's hard when I only have one side of the coin. I honestly don't know how simular Facebook and Myspace are, let alone if RP on facebook is even possible.
Anyway... If we made a Facebook profile in which we just said "Join TRPS" that'd be fine. But you'd have to be active, add people, and say hi. things such as that. Make sense? I feel like we're all on differnt pages. Anyone want to let me know we're all good?
-tapes paper back together- ... Look! -slams hand on desk- I'm gonna tell it how it is, this time around, Blunt and Honest. I didn't give a damn about this site. i only joined because Myspace was getting lame, and I wantedd somewhere to keep RPing on. In the past you guys may have noticed I was gone for a while? Well things got booming again on myspace. Thats why I was gone. This place was just so I wouldn't be bored, and I actually met some sweet people here -salutes hiroku-
Yeah... what? dick move? Yup. I would have bailed if Myspace kept going like the old days, but guess what... its dead. And I gotta do what I gotta do. So now, i do give a damn! I want to keep RPing, I'm steamin' boilin' and BURNING with passion, and that fire isn't going out! So, freaken A! Lets make this site into something!
We have the title "The Role Play Site" We got a reputation to make man! I want this place to be bigger than retarded facebook, to be drowning in members and ridiculous RPs! I wouldn't bring ideas to the table if I didn't think they were important. Obviously all because i have an idea, dosen't make it a great one! but we should really go over EVERYTHING. Give the site a whole new make over.
Anyone with me on that? Any thoughts, or am I freaken out for no reason xD
{Also. No Brenda, RPing on Myspace has been going on for a LOOOOONG Time.}

TRPS is in no need of a make over. I like it just as it is. It's easy to understand, simple, easy to get into, easy to use, and we can go about with our daily lives without worrying about returning to a thread buried by new posts. That is the danger of too many members. It's also the reason I rp here instead of places like Neopets, myspace, and facebook. Leave for an hour there, and you're pretty much out of the rp.
The facebook page would be a fan page. It would detail what the site is and link to it. People can choose to 'like' it. No roleplaying on FB, it would basically be an advertisement for the site.
If you liked role playing on myspace better, than that's your preference. We aren't going to yell at you for it. But we aren't going to make TRPS like myspace for you either.
Digressing. This thread is to discuss the Facebook page.

Okay... Bit of an update on the Facebook stuffs...
Well, we only have 8 people liking it. Most likely all of them are members. Members who has posted on this board. That, in my mind, is not showing any good progress.
I've tried sharing it on my wall, but we seem to be going nowhere with this. I say that we do something else with our board.
Who thinks we should post a link to one of the BEST roleplays we have ever done and put it on there?
Well, I'm saying the "best" as one that people can connect to, one that has had lots of members posted, and one that shows how we do things on this site.
And has an interesting and attractive storyline to it.
So what do the rest of the members think? Yea? Nay? Aye? Whatevs?

It could probably use a more in-depth description and a printscreen of the website under photos. Actually, how about that? There are a lot of different skins, so why not two or three members printscreen one of their favorite roleplays and we can upload them as facebook photos? example: I have the medieval skin, so here's a printscreen from my computer: i53.tinypic.com/2ekoha9.pngIt's clearly much more blue than the default skin X3 This way viewers can at least see a little of the website if they check out the photos.

Hm... this is a very good idea. If you'd like me to upload screenshots of... the drawing board, role plays, chatting, contests, etc etc, just PM me the screenshot and we'll go from there, sound good? (:
By the way, to screenshot... there should be a button near the top right of most keyboards that says 'Print Screen.' Simply press it and paste into Paint or some other program.
