The TRPS Book?

Look, call me stupid, but I think we are all great writers.

Call me stupid. Not really, but, ya. You get the point.

But anyway, has anyone on this site ever published? Or ever thought about publishing? I know I have. Not published, but I've been thinking about publishing.

Now, to begin, I know that most of us don't know each other that well (With the exeption of lilypup and I) and we probably won't trust each other. But, we are all writers, creators, inventors, and we know of plagarism. And I pray to my God that we don't do that... I pray sooo badly...

But anyway, I was thinking, what if we each write a short story... note that we have claim on them, and such forth, then the moderators and old-time members can make some accounts of fun times with the members of the past, and of the now, and combine them together under Brenda's name (Well, she made this site, she deserves the credit) and have a TRPS book that we can say we wrote and published. With all our different interests, and all our different styles in writing, it would be cool to have something like that. Spread the genious of the TRPS roleplayers. Sound like an idea?

I mean, for safety's sake, we could have it that we have a board where we put all of the short stories and memoirs, and have a required number of posts to enter that place. Or, better yet, have the moderators post them on the Moderator Talk, for those sneaky people trying to steal story ideas... and collect them all there. Then, Brenda just copy them all onto a Word document and send them to a publisher or something like that... I know it isn't that easy though. Nothing is. Um, just an idea. And if we did do this, it would be a cool thing to have around when you have your grandkids sitting in your lap, just read them stories that you and your comrades from this site a long time ago made these stories...

Just a thought. Just wondering what you guys will think.

Hmm...I like the idea in theory.

My only issues with it revolve around me, not the idea itself. One, I'm an inherently greedy person, and I'd want credit for my portion of the contribution.

Second, I already have to many stories that I'm working on. I could start a story like nothing, but chances are I'd never finish it.

In short, I'll think about it, but it's not a promise that I'll help out.

I'm sure that whoever contributed stories to this book would most certainly get credit for their work... publishing it under my name would not settle well in my stomach. I'd want everyone to have their name on the cover if they contributed what would probably be a large part to the book. Or in the introduction pages, or whatever.

This is an interesting idea, but I am concerned about who would publish such a thing. These stories, after all, would vary greatly in plot, style, genre, etc... so making a collection of them may turn out a rough, non-flowing book. It's fairly hard to get things published (at least, that's what I've heard a hundred times)... and then, who would buy it? I think short stories are more suited for the internet rather than to be published on paper, but I suppose that's just my opinion.

Hmm... well, of course, lika a collection-of-poems book, we could have the initial "collector/writer" be Brenda, and we have our own little "usernames" be under the things we wrote. Trust me, I kind of like getting credit for what I do... but it's only an idea.
