General Rules
- Do not join with multiple accounts. You are allowed to have an unlimited amount of characters on your account.
- Rudeness or discrimination of any kind is not tolerated. Discriminatory or offensive comments directed toward someone's age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, physical characteristics, or other personal traits are not tolerated. TRPS welcomes everyone who has a desire to write and is willing to respect others on the forum.
- Do not engage in cyber sex with anyone on this site, in any way. This is not a dating site, so please keep conversation about relationships/dating off this forum. We have many underage members, which means we have zero tolerance for any type of sexual misconduct. If you see any inappropriate behavior anywhere on the site (including PMs), please notify me (admin) immediately so that I can make sure it doesn't continue.
- Offensive or profane usernames are forbidden.
- Your account will not be removed due to inactivity, but we do appreciate it when members post regularly. If you will be unable to post for a certain amount of time, please leave an excuse on the Bye-Bye! board, explaining why you won't be here to post. Please keep us up to date if there are changes in the time you'll be away.
- The Drawing Board rules and Shoutbox rules (located at the top of the Shoutbox) must be followed just as strictly as any other set of rules.
- Your birthday appears automatically on the calendar when you join, so there is no need to create an additional post for it. Try to limit calendar events to ones that other members can also enjoy. In other words, personal events are probably best kept to yourself.
Role Playing Rules
- No godmoding/power playing. Only control your own characters, unless another player gives you explicit permission.
- You must use some form of OOC (Out Of Character) in the role play boards if you’re not role playing. OOC is not required for posting in the Fun Stuff or News and Notes boards.
- Do not steal or copy anyone else’s character without their permission.
- Limited romance/violence/drug references are allowed. Please remember that people of all ages are on TRPS, so try to keep it appropriate for all. If you have any concerns about what is appropriate and what is not, please PM admin (Brenda). You will not get in trouble for asking me if something is appropriate, but you might if you just go ahead and post it.
- If you desire to leave a role play, please state a notice in that particular role play thread, out of courtesy to your fellow role players.
- You do not need permission to create role plays. If you are unsure under which topic it belongs, or if you want to know what others think of your idea, post it in the Role Play Topic Ideas board. There is no specific format that you need to follow when creating a role play.
Literacy and Posting Rules
- Proper punctuation, capitalization, and grammar is required for posts in and out of character. Everyone makes mistakes, but the goal is always improvement, so try your best to keep things neat!
- Chatspeak in role play is not tolerated. Limited chatspeak in OOC may be tolerated, but try not to use it.
- Do not spam. You may bump a board to refresh it, but do not post more than twice in a row. You can edit your previous post by clicking the ‘edit’ button at the top-right corner of your post.
- Profanity is allowed in posts, but keep it tasteful.
- Images, avatars/icons, siggies, or links to: pornographic/nude material (includes barely-dressed people/cartoons); offensive material; or excessive gore are strictly forbidden. If you are not sure an image is allowed, either PM admin with it or don't use it at all.
- All in-character posts must be in third person.
A good general rule to follow: when in doubt, ask admin or simply don't do it.
Each member has a warning level, which is a little bar underneath their name. If the bar is not visible, you have no warnings. If it is visible, you have gotten a warning as a result of breaking the rules. The amount of red in your warning bar depends on the severity of the offense. Warnings go away a month after you get them. If your warning bar is full, you will be banned.
If you see something in a post that's against the rules, there's a button at the top right corner of every post which, when clicked, produces a drop-down menu. In this menu you can click 'report post.' Click that and it'll allow you to send a PM to me, 'admin'. Please notify me if you see somebody breaking the rules so the issue can be dealt with appropriately. Please do not attempt to deal with the issue yourself.
If you have any questions about the rules (or anything else for that matter), PM 'admin' (Brenda) or create a thread on the Help! board.
If you are banned or deleted and disagree with the action, email me at bddebaets@gmail.com.
