To change your gender, avatar, and many other things, you must view your profile. On every page in this site, there is a button at the top of the screen that says 'Profile'. It's the second to the right. Click on it, then go to 'Modify Profile'. There, you can change everything about your user.
Things you can change about your profile:
Password: You don't have to fill this in if you just want to change, say, your avatar. Just fill it in if you want to change your password.
Display name: This is the name that other members will see every time you post.
Location: You can put where you really live, or you can put something funny or random, like 'In a box'.
Web Site Name: If you have a website of your own, you can put the name of it here.
Web Site URL: Here, you can fill in the URL of your own website, if you have one.
MP Background (Mini-Profile Background): Enter a URL of an image you want as your Mini-Profile Background. Your Mini-Profile is the area that contains your avatar, display name, and such everytime you post. Please do not make this image too distracting or make your Mini-Profile's text difficult to read for people with different skins.
Avatar: You can pick one of the ones that are already on The Role Play Site, or you can fill in the URL of a personal one. Then fill in the size (only if you have a personal avatar). The avatar can be no larger than 100x100.
Personal text: This text goes underneath your avatar.
Signature: You can put images and/or text here - just read the rules for pictures before you do (read them for avatars, too!). Your signature will be displayed beneath every one of your posts.
User notes: These are just notes you can write to yourself. No one else but you can read them, but staff members can add notes for you to read.
(Account Preferences) Most of this is pretty obvious, but one of them, Mass Emails, isn't all that self-explanatory. I have the ability to send mass-emails to all of the members of TRPS. If you do not wish to receive these emails, just select Opt-out. I don't usually send mass emails, but it is still a good idea to select Opt-in so that just in case of a problem, you can be notified.
And there's another one that's not all that easy to understand -
Select Skin: There are plenty of different skins (colors and such) in TRPS. Normal members can create their own if they want to, and everyone can use it. There is a default skin that everyone has when they first join.
