The baby giggled, looking up to her cutely. She was obviously older than the other babies, being just under a year.

Teru scrambled out of bed and gently picked up the child, then rushed out of the room to look for Juri.

"B-But... She didn't cry when she saw me... She reached out to me and smiled... It made me feel all warm inside!" She quickly snatched Ito away, tears in her eyes. "She's mine, I won't let you take her from me!"

She looked into Juri's eyes desperately, then started to cry in desperation. "Y-you don't get it, do you..?! Losing a child.... l-losing a child is the absolute worst thing that could ever happen to a mother..! And you just did that to someone else! It's like... it's like I don't even know you..!"

Juri stared at her silently before bursting into tears, causing the small baby to cry as well. "F-Fine, take her back! Rip her from my arms!"

"You STOLE a baby, and YOU'RE the one getting all dramatic?!" Teru screamed. "Do you even know what that's like?! To have your precious child just up and disappear in the middle of the night?!"

"I'm telling you to take her back!" She screamed, thrusting the child into Teru's arms. As she did so, she saw something: A large room filled with many people. There was a baby screaming in an elderly woman's arms, and in the center of the room laid a woman. She couldn't see her face, but she could see the paleness in her complexion and she noticed that there was no subtle expansion in her chest caused by breathing. By her side was a saddened man, holding onto her cold hand as tight as he could.
Juri blinked, staggering back and putting her hands over her head. "A-Ah... What the hell...?" She shook her head. "Just... Just take her back, Teru."

"How the hell am I supposed to take her back if I don't know where you took her from?!" Teru sobbed frantically, not even noticing Juri's distress. "I'm not a mind-reader..!"

As soon as Juri was gone, Teru collapsed in a heap on the floor and began to sob uncontrollably. She couldn't remember them, not now. It was too much. At least that mother would get her baby back. Focus on that. She gets her baby back. Never mind the ones Teru lost. They were gone. They had been gone for hundreds of years. Don't remember them now. Not now.

Teru reluctantly dragged herself to her feet and went to answer the door. Her eyes were red and puffy and her voice was nearly gone from crying. After so long, Juri probably wasn't coming back... she had lost her family again. The devastated yokai squared her shoulders and bravely opened the door.

"I know, but she will be back. I sensed great stress and sadness from both of you, so I have come to make it all better." She picked up the basket, still not showing it's contents to the tanuki girl. "Teru, I know I can trust you with a child's life. I gave you Mako all those years ago and he turned out to be a nice young man who now has children of his own. I've also seen your skills as a mother with your own children, so I know you'd never disappoint me."

"It wasn't your fault and you know it. She was a victim of other peoples' hatred and fear. It Will not happen again." She stepped inside the house. "I sense that Juri desperately wants to be a mother, and so do you, you're just scared. Am I right?"

"And what if they didn't ever leave you?" Sana sat down after gently placing the basket on a table. She pulled a fuzzy pink blanket off of the top of it, revealing a sleeping baby with two fuzzy black cat ears and a tail. "Teru, meet Mimi."

She nods. "And she's yours. I've been looking for a good home to give her, and I think I've finally found it. Her father left her to die in the forest, and she would have if I hadn't found her when I did. I've had her for a few months."

"Juri will be back soon, don't worry." She gently picked the sleepy kitty girl up, handing her over to Teru. "She's very calm most of the time, only crying when she's hungry. She's almost learned to walk already and she no longer needs to breast feed."

Mimi looked up at Teru tiredly before closing her eyes again and nuzzling her chest, purring softly.
Sana nodded. "She can be happy here with you and my-... With you and Juri. I trust you both with little Mimi."
