NEWBIE GUIDE (All Newbies Come Here!)
« Thread Started on Nov 11, 2006, 11:28am »

First of all, I'd like to welcome you to The Role Play Site, and I hope you enjoy it a lot.

This is a guide for new members to TRPS, and I figured I'd just make this to help you out a bit.
Here's just some stuff that you need to know, and that might be helpful to you:

  • If you haven't read the rules yet, you MUST do so as soon as possible. Remember that you MUST post at least once the day that you join or your account will be deleted.

  • Just look around the forum a bit and get to know some boards. If you think you'll have trouble remembering important boards or role plays you joined, or the rules, try adding them to your Favorites/Bookmarks.

  • Sometimes it gets sort of confusing getting around in TRPS.
There are three categories on the home page; News and Notes, Fun Stuff, and Role Plays. Inside each of those categories is a list of boards, and inside those boards are threads.

  • TRPS is a shortened version of The Role Play Site, which I use a lot, and so do several other members.

  • You can introduce yourself and get to know the other members at the 'Our Members' board:

    http://www.theroleplays.proboards42.com/index.cgi?board=members

  • You need to check the News Fader on the home page daily, and you also need to check up on the 'Important Member Stuff' board regularly to keep up with everything that's going on in TRPS.

    Important Member Stuff board: http://www.theroleplays.proboards42.com/index.cgi?board=importantmemberstuff

  • The Quick Reply is a text area at the bottom, where you can quickly post in any board. However, if you want to have more options and a longer text space, you can click on a small button at the bottom right corner of the last post in that board, which says 'Reply.'

  • At the bottom of the home page, in the Info Center, there's a link that says 'View the 50 most recent posts of this forum.' If you click on it, you can see the, well, 50 most recent posts in TRPS. It's really helpful.

  • If you'd like to experiment with the different things you can do with your post (quote, bold, strike-through, etc.), you can mess around in the Testing thread in the Help! board.

  • If you still need help with something, you can go to our Help! board, which as several questions previously asked by other members and some help guides (including how to change your profile, how to post a thread, and how to post a poll) that may be useful to you:

  • Moderators are members (usually the more active ones) that help me out by deleting the role plays that haven't been posted in for seven or more days.

  • If you want to change or add anything to a post made by you, you can click on the 'modify' button, which you can find on the top right corner of every one of your posts.

Questions and Contact: If you have any more questions or concerns about anything, you can contact me in these ways: you can send me a PM (Personal Message) - my username is 'admin'. You can also send me an email at: theroleplaysite@hotmail.com , or a Neomail at _x_x_x_emily_x_x_x_.

Again, welcome to The Role Play Site!
Hope you have an amazing day.
